Despite the frustration of having to wait until tonight’s reunion episode to find out the winner, season 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race has certainly shown us some memorable runway looks. Who could forget Latrice’s Ursula-like get-up (rhinestone-encrusted lips included) or Willam’s “Versayce” couture?
The top 3 finalists have especially dressed to impress all season long, and as we count down to the moment the new queen is crowned, let’s take a look at the top 5 looks per contestant:
A perfect blend of spooky-chic (that iconic Sharon look we all love) and sheer glamour, this skin-tight nude gown is paired flawlessly with black latex gloves and a sleek corset.
A more casual and comfortable version of Sharon’s signature look, this outfit is a clever homage to plastic surgery and, you know, your darkest nightmares.
A look that made her feel “drop-dead gorgeous”, Sharon’s look at the opening of the season featured a stunning textured gown accompanied with slicked-back hair and a mouth seething with fake blood. Gorgeous, indeed.
With the “scary” toned down, Sharon proved she could be just as pretty as her fellow contestants. However, this didn’t stop her from adding at least one creepy accessory–a glove fashioned to look like a snake. How very Garden of Eden.
When Santino Rice said this look could be seen in top fashion magazines, he was right on the money. This fun, sexy, French-inspired ensemble (poodle included) is too perfect for words. Très belle, Sharonne. (Sorry about the quality of this one, folks!)
I dare anyone to look at Chad in this outfit and not smile. The bubble-gum hair, the leopard blouse and much-too-much rhinestone earrings make for a great character. When Chad does tacky, she does it will full glamour.
A sleeker and sexier look than what we grew used to seeing from Chad, this Catwoman-meets-Liza Minelli get-up proved that Chad too can have a darker side (and it’s absolutely wonderful).
One of Chad’s greatest strengths as a contestant is her ability to seamlessly channel pop culture icons, and this Lady Gaga-circa-Poker Face outfit combines a familiar look with some unique touches blended in (when is giraffe-print going to replace all the tiger stripes and leopard spots?)
That nose ring! Those goggles! That Bohemian-inspired hooded zebra dress! Who wouldn’t want to travel with Chad?
When Chad did her turn on the runway in this classic, beautifully-put-together outfit, the audience was immediately transported to a different time. This isn’t some half-baked idea–this is a fully-realized, breathtaking tribute to Grace Kelly, and Chad has never looked lovelier.
Phi Phi O’Hara
One of the first looks that made her really noticed by the judges, Phi Phi went a long way from those days of less-than-perfect makeup and sub-par Gaga impressions. With this turquoise frock and statement earrings, the only word to describe this look is “fierce”.
Hey, if you got it, flaunt it, right? O’Hara has got some enviable legs, and paired with big hair and even bigger earrings, this style is a testament to the idea that more is, well, more.
Out of all her looks, this one represents Phi Phi’s bold personality the most accurately. She is every bit as tough as this Amazonian garb insinuates, and every bit as stylish.
Elegant, with just enough “poof”, Phi Phi is both a bride and prom queen (with just a dash of “angel”).
Yet another one of those looks that started to earn Phi Phi some rightfully-deserved attention from the judges, this deep purple, sea urchin-esque one-piece really does make her look like “a long-lost Kardasian sister”–the most fabulous of all.
All in all, it’s been an excellent season full of awe-inspiring looks, and each finalist has her own distinct style. Tune in on tonight at 9pm to find out this year’s winner!
