Pour yourself a cuppa tea to go because the RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. queens are hitting the road.
Less than a week after The Vivienne was crowned the U.K.’s first drag superstar in 2019, she and her Season 1 sisters embarked on a six-city tour that took them from Newcastle and London to Birmingham and Manchester. That tour is coming to life in the new docuseries God Shave the Queens, which, like Werq the World, takes fans onstage, backstage, and behind the scenes, capturing the most gagworthy and dramatic moments from the tour.
In case you need a RuFresher, the cast for Drag Race U.K. Season 1 included Gothy Kendoll, Scaredy Kat, Vinegar Strokes, Crystal, Sum Ting Wong, Blu Hydrangea, Cheryl Hole, Baga Chipz, Divina De Campo, and The Vivienne. Not only will God Shave the Queens feature all of those fierce queens, but the tour is hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race legend Alyssa Edwards as she tongue pops her way across England.
Drag Race U.K. was renewed for a second season, but like pretty much every other television and film production, filming was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I want people to know, rest assured, there will be your Season 2 of Drag Race U.K.,” judge Michelle Visage said back in June. “We’ve got everything ready, we’re just waiting for this ban to lift. Try to stop me.”
God Shave the Queens premieres September 10 on WOW Presents Plus. Until then, check out the new series trailer below.
