“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Queens Get “A Wrinkle In Time” Makeover

Is that you, Mrs. Who?

A Wrinkle in Time, the Disney fantasy blockbuster starring Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon, is already on our movie must-see list this spring—but we are even more excited for the adaptation of the classic book now that RuPaul’s Drag Race queens have given it their stamp of approval.

In three new videos posted to Instagram, three Drag Race squirrel friends, Alyssa Edwards, Bob the Drag Queen and Kim Chi have been made over in looks inspired by the three immortal beings from the movie, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which.

In her video, Alyssa Edwards talks about how her look was inspired by Mrs. Whatsit and “Texas-sized drag.”

“Through the art of drag I had the power to become a warrior—similar to the celestial being of Mrs. Whatsit,” she says in her video.

Bob the Drag Queen was inspired by Mrs. Who (played by Kaling in the film adaptation) and Kim Chi’s inspiration was Oprah’s character, Mrs. Which, but added a “Korean twist”—hoping to help her fans who are struggling with their cultural identity, like she was when she was younger.

These queens are serving immortal goddess eleganza!

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars airs Thursdays at 8/7c on VH1.

I write about drag queens. Dolly Parton once ruffled my hair and said I was "just the cutest thing ever."
