One of Tokyo’s friendliest gay places, where you’re as likely to meet chatty Aussie, Americans, Brits and Germans as well as Japanese locals who eagerly welcome gay tourists. The staff are funny and engaging, and the vibe is relaxed, playful and social. Sit along the slender S-shaped bar in the middle of the room beneath the two suspended bejeweled dragon sculptures hanging from the ceiling; or perch out on the streetfront patio seats.
One strange note: There’s a cross old lady neighbor who is not a fan of the bar, and on some late nights, she’ll come charging up to the bar’s entrance, rapping her cane aggressively on the sidewalk, protesting the noise (and maybe the uber-gayness of it all)?
Dragon is a fun place to start your rounds of gay Tokyo barhopping on any night.
