Dustin Lance Black: "Ender's Game" Boycott Is "A Waste Of Energy"

Both Orson Scott Card and Lionsgate Films have released statements dismissing a proposed boycott of Ender's Game, the film version of Card's sci-fi masterpiece, because of the author's homophobic views and affiliations. Card said the debate was "moot" and asked for "tolerance" while the studio claims Card's views "are completely irrelevant to a discussion of Ender's Game... neither the underlying book nor the film itself reflect these views in any way, shape or form."

Now Dustin Lance Black, the openly gay screenwriter of Milk, is attacking the campaign, too: “Boycotting a movie made by 99% lgbt equality folks in an lgbt equality industry is a waste of our collective energy," he tweeted on Sunday. " Making one phone call to a relative in the south who isn't quite there yet would be 1000 times more effective.”

How much energy does it take to not go to a movie?
