There’s no stopping the deluge of TV reboots: From Will & Grace to Roseanne, your favorite shows from yesteryear are coming back in a big way.
One revival we’re actually intrigued by is Dynasty, which was officially picked up by the CW this week. The network released a trailer for the nighttime drama at the recent upfronts presentation and its definitely upped the gay factor.
While Steven Carrington was a wishy-washy homosexual in the 1980s original—he had more wives than boyfriends—the teaser sees the 21st century Steven (James Mackay) rolling around in bed with a hunk.
The revival, helmed by Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, reunites us with those glamorous One Percenters, the Carringtons and the Colbys. In the new version, though, Krystle Carrington (played by Linda Evans in the original) has been tweaked as a Latina, Kristal (Nathalie Kelley), who’s married into an uber-WASPy clan.
That puts her at odds with her stepdaughter, Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies).
The series costars Melrose Place’s Grant Show as Blake Carrington and Switched at Birth’s Sam Adegoke as Jeff Colby, as well as Robert Christopher Riley and Rafael de la Fuente.
That’s all well and good, but if we don’t get a Joan Collins appearance by the season finale, we’re going to be very angry.
