Miami Drag Star Elaine Lancaster Claims Her Support Of Donald Trump Is Costing Her Gigs

"I have never in my life experienced so much hatred."

Elaine Lancaster has been a staple of the Miami drag scene for nearly two decades, but the drag queen says she now has trouble getting work after publicly throwing her support behind Donald Trump.

Lancaster recently appeared out of drag as James Davis on a CNN panel consisting of Trump supporters, and claimed that she has been "black-balled" from performing since revealing she voted for the polarizing president.

“I’ve done all these events for all these gay causes, and people have literally said, ‘I’m gonna kill you. If I see you outside, I’m gonna throw a brick at your head,’” Lancaster told the Miami Herald.

The outspoken drag queen said she started receiving hate after accusing President Obama of playing the gay community, but claims things got even worse after publicly outing herself as a Trump supporter.

“I’m a leader in the community, and I know I am and I take great responsibility in that,” she said. “I have never in my life experienced so much hatred, pettiness and animosity for me posting something.”

The performer says that although she's concerned with some of the anti-gay politicians that Trump has appointed to his administration, she ultimately sides with the president on issues like employment and the economy.

"Without jobs, it doesn’t matter how many rights we get!” she told the Miami Herald, arguing that it is a concept many in the LGBT community have lost sight of.
