Kevin Hart was scheduled to host this year’s Oscars until homophobic tweets and jokes from his stand-up acts resurfaced online. In one tweet, Hart says he would break a dollhouse over his son’s head if he caught him playing with a doll.

Following his decision to step down as host and not issue an apology, the comedian is set to appear on Monday’s The Ellen DeGeneres Show, according to the Daily Beast’s Matt Wilstein.
As a fellow comedian hot off her own stand-up special on Netflix, DeGeneres may have some sympathy for Hart. On the flip side, as an entertainer who risked her career by coming out as gay at a time when the queer community in the U.S. (even in Hollywood) didn’t have much footing in mainstream culture—a sacrifice that earned her one of President Obama’s Presidential Medals of Freedom—this conversation could be quite contentious.
