Ellen Page walked the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas Sunday, marking the first time the pair have attended an event together.

The couple marked the occasion with huge smiles and posed for selfies with fans throughout the night. According to at least four people, Thomas smelled good:

“I’m in love,” Page told an E! reporter. “Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend's hand is pretty special,” she added. "It's pretty awesome.”

Page and Thomas were on the carpet for the premiere of Page’s latest flick Freeheld, in which she plays a lesbian married to a terminally ill military veteran. In an interview with Out recently, Page said the role inspired her to come out.

Also at the Freeheld premiere was Page’s pal, Orange Is the New Black actress Ruby Rose.

Rose posed for photos with Page and posted them on Instagram — one included a beautiful caption. She wrote: “When your best friend is the most talented, funny, beautiful, generous, humble human being it's hard to not smile until it hurts. Ellen, I am so proud of you and will always be grateful for everything you are and will always be to me."
