How time flies.
On April 30, 1997 Ellen DeGeneres’ character came out as gay on Ellen in a landmark episode that was watched by 42 million people and went onto win a Primetime Emmy and a Peabody Award.
Now 20 years later, DeGeneres will honor the historic television event by dedicating the April 28 episode of her talk show to “The Puppy Episode” with a special tribute that will reunite the sitcom’s cast for the first time since the series ended in 1998.
According to The Hollywood Reporter: “The Ellen DeGeneres Show will celebrate the milestone with a reunion with special guest stars Oprah Winfrey and Laura Dern joining castmembers Joely Fisher, Clea Lewis and David Anthony Higgins.”
The special episode will also feature messages from celebrities and stories from fans and viewers on how DeGeneres’ coming out impacted their lives.
