"RuPaul's Drag Race," "Westworld" Score Major 2017 Emmy Nominations
This morning Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds) and Anna Chlumsky (Veep) announced the 2017 Emmy nominations.
Game of Thrones' ineligibility left a wide gap for new nominees in the drama categories this year and the Television Academy filled the fantasy series' absence with some of the best shows from the past year.
Past nominees like Jeffrey Tambor and Judith Light for Transparent were nominated again along with Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid's Tale and Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon for Feud. Kate McKinnon and Tituss Burgess also received nominations in the comedy supporting categories.
Lady Gaga's Super Bowl Halftime Show also received six nominations.
RuPaul's Drag Race finished off its stellar season with eight nominations including Outstanding Reality Competition and Reality Competition Host for RuPaul, which he won last year.
Untucked also received a nomination for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, along with Gaycation with Ellen Page.
"I want to thank the academy for honoring the entire cast and crew of RuPaul’s Drag Race, my family at World of Wonder, and our champions at VH1," said RuPaul. "It takes a village, people! Their creativity and dedication to telling the stories of our brave and talented queens never ceases to amaze, amuse and inspire."
The fan favorite "San Junipero" episode of Black Mirror received a nod for Outstanding Television Movie.
Westworld and Saturday Night Live tied with the most nominations, 22 each.
