At this past weekend’s Resist March in L.A. Logo correspondent Jen Richards spoke with RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 contestants about trans visibility in the LGBT community.
Peppermint was one of the special guests for the march and the Drag Race queen said that she has “gotten so much love from the community” after coming out as trans on the show.
Her fellow Season 9 sister, Eureka, also spoke with Richards, revealing that she too identified as trans at one point.
“I actually lived [as] trans for a small period of my life,” Eureka told Richards. Now she says that she identifies as “genderfluid and gender-neutral.”
“That’s a grey area we haven’t really explained to the world yet so knowing that Peppermint was on there [Season 9] when I found out that was so amazing and inspiring,” said Eureka. “The fact that she’s lasted so long on the show no one can ever say that she’s been shortchanged because of her transition.”
“She’s been celebrated. It’s an iconic moment,” she added.
