"Everybody Wants Some!" DVD Is Even Gayer Than The Theatrical Release
And the Richard Linklater film was already overflowing with homoerotic overtones.
From the moment the trailer for Everybody Wants Some! dropped earlier this year, we were transfixed by the film's homoerotic undertones.
Director Richard Linklater admitted the film was rich with gay subtext.
“I think there are some early shots, like when we’re driving with Jake [Blake Jenner], it’s all male gaze,” he said. “It goes back to ancient Greece: Those early Olympics were performed in the nude.”
And the cast was wise to it, too.
Now, an unearthed deleted scene is turning the dial up on the homoeroticism even more.
Everybody Wants Some! is out on DVD this week, complete with deleted scenes.
