OWN’s “First Christmas” Lesbian Couple Is One of Our Favorite Things

Get a first look at Tiffany and her girlfriend, Paris, in this exclusive clip from the film, out December 22.

2020 is the year of the queer holiday rom-com, and OWN got the message.

First Christmas — an upcoming movie from the Oprah Winfrey-founded cable channel — stars Idara Victor as Halle Downing, a young woman who is reunited with the biological family she didn't know she had after growing up in foster care. Among this crop of new-to-her relatives is her half-sister, Tiffany Moore (Samantha Smith), who is queer.

Halle is welcomed into the Moore fam with open arms, but she soon realizes that there is tension afoot. Her first tip-off? Tiffany is afraid to introduce her new girlfriend, Paris (Queen Sugar's Amanda Tavarez), to the family.

In a new clip provided exclusively to NewNowNext, viewers meet Paris for the first time after Halle encourages a nervous Tiffany to invite her GF to their little brother's chess tournament. Tiffany stumbles through the ask in a video call, but Halle and Glenn Moore (Mason Beauchamp), Tiffany's twin and Halle's half-brother, cheer her on in the background.

The Moore family's first Christmas as a complete unit isn't all smooth-sailing — it is a rom-com, after all, so their has to be some conflict amid the laughs — but Halle does come to realize that she is exactly where she's supposed to be.

Meet Halle, Tiffany, and Paris in the clip below, and keep an eye out for First Christmas when it premieres next Tuesday, December 22 at 9pm ET/PT on OWN.
