Facebook Dives Into Scripted Programming With Queer Comedy "Strangers"

"L Word" star Leisha Hailey appears in the latest episode of Mia Lidofsky's engaging new series.

Facebook's gotten into the original series game, with Strangers, a queer scripted comedy which follows Isobel (Zoe Chao), a 30something exploring her sexuality after cheating on her boyfriend with another woman. She's aided in her quest by her lesbian BFF Cam (Meredith Hagner) and the fact that she has to Airbnb out her second bedroom to make extra money.

Together, Isobel and Cam grapple with the parade of strangers rolling in and out of Isobel's home—and her life.

"Strangers is loosely inspired by my life," says writer-director Mia Lidofsky (Tig, Girls). "It’s an amalgamation of me and my closest friends, and a lot of women I’ve met, cared about, or wondered about in the last decade."

In addition to its two talented leads, the show is filled with recognizable guest stars, including UnReal actresses Shiri Appleby and Breeda Wool, Girls' Jemima Kirke and Flight of the Conchords' Jemaine Clement.

In this week's episode, The L Word's Leisha Hailey plays Isobel's newest roommate, a couple's counselor who helps her and Cam deal with a big fight. But will Isobel be able to keep from crossing the "boarder-boardee boundary line" after her brother drops in unexpectedly? (Spoiler alert: Probably not.)

A new episode of Strangers streams every Monday on Facebook Watch.
