The nerd community isn't necessarily known for its progressive stance on gender equality. While organizations like our friends over at GeeksOut are working hard at bringing LGBT people in to discussions of comic books and video games, our lady friends have not had an easy time breaking in to the geek scene.  In fact the harrowing cry of "Fake Geek Girl" has become so ubiquitous that feminist-minded nerds have turned the accusation on its head with the new blog "Fake Nerd Guys."

When girls show up to conventions or parties in sexy costumes they are immediately accused of "looking for attention" or desperately faking their enthusiasm for the subculture in order to attract a potential boyfriend.  But when guys do it?  No problem!  As evidenced by the new tumblr, menfolk get a free pass on revealing cosplay.

While the dudes in the pictures are supposed to be objects of feminist satire, there's nothing stopping gay nerds from ogling at their hardware.
