Fans of Disney’s massive animated movie Frozen want to see lead character Elsa find romance in the upcoming sequel, and they want it to be with another woman.
Creating the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend, people have been hoping to get the folks at Disney to make a princess come out of the closet for the first time.
With lyrics like, “I don’t care what they’re going to say,” the ice princess’ signature song, “Let It Go,” is already the perfect LGBT anthem, and her storyline — feeling shame over being different than others before eventually finding pride in it — already mirrors the experiences of many gay people.
Check out some of the social media pleas from fans below.
Teaching kids (and adults too) that love is love would be wonderful @Disney #GiveElsaAGirlfriendhttps://t.co/KAdl7kPtzN

A gay Disney princess would have helped me feel so much more normal when I was younger. Representation is important. #GiveElsaAGirlfriend
