We’re getting an electro-goth vibe from VV Brown‘s new single, “Samson,” something of a departure from her Winehouse-meets-Adele hit from 2009, “Shark in the Water.”

It also marks her departure from Island Records as she’s releasing the full album, Samson & Delilah independently on her own label, YOY Records. “I set up my own record label so I could finally make the music I wanted to,” Brown told The Telegraph. “In the future I want to sign other artists and let people grow with the label.”

And Beyoncé says there are no female moguls in the music biz.

We’ve already reviewed the corniest moments at the Eurovision Song Contest, perhaps the tackiest event in the known universe. But what about the outfits? Between princess gowns, sequin overloads and more drapery than Scarlett O’Hara wore in Gone with the Wind, Eurovision was a veritable smörgåsbord of bad taste.

Petra Mede
Comedian Petra Mede, allegedly Sweden’s answer to Bette Midler, emceed this year’s competition. And her first outfit (left) was an absolute travesty stolen from the touring production of Anna Karenina on Ice. (Actually Anna Karenina on Ice might be kind of cool, so long as no one wore this.) Later, Mede changed into the outfit on the right, which is comparatively better but, then again, it’s still a hot-pink trenchcoat made to look like a ballgown. With billowy sleeves. And Petra’s prom updo just screams “princess.” Does Sweden have a royal family? Maybe Mede is auditioning for it (or a walk-on role in Once Upon a Time.)

Cascada
Cascada is only 31, but she looked like a well-toned 50-year-old  thanks to this outfit. Her entry in Eurovision was the pop song “Glorious,” but this unflatteringly skintight frock with an awkward high-low cut is anything but. (Nice legs, though.) And the hideous sparkle supernova radiating from her tummy is something only Kim Kardashian would wear—and even then only in her 12th month of labor.

Zlata Ognevich
With her simple body-hugging white gown, the Ukraine’s Zlata Ognevich actually had one of the best looks from the show (not a major accomplishment.) But what is this damsel-in-distress crap? It’s 2013—even in Ukraine! And if you’re going to be whisked off your feet, at least don’t make it by viking Shrek.

Cezar is Romanian, so we get the whole Eastern-European goth vampire vibe. But the ginormous sequins and opera collar? He looks like if Seigfried and Roy’s gayer cousin got into a transporter accident with the Lord of the Dance.

After weeks of spine-tingling promos and sexy stills, MTV has finally released the full trailer for the new season of Teen Wolf.

And it’s intense.

The tag line at the end reads “This might hurt” but judging from the sharp scalpel, it will definitely hurt—and we absolutely love it. So far we’re being promised lots of action and mystery, more appearances from Danny, a possible love interest for Stiles (sorry, Sterek fans) and the arrival of totally bulked-up Desperate Housewives alums Charlie and Max Carver as twin Alphas.

Summer just got a whole lot more interesting.

The New York Times decided to interview Mad Men star January Jones for the Sunday Styles section this weekend, and it was one of the most difficult interviews we have ever had to read. She didn’t talk. She didn’t laugh. And, she apparently didn’t smile, at least according to the opening sentence of the article:

“It isn’t easy to coax a smile out of January Jones.”

It seemed to get worse from there, with Jones not answering any of interviewer Ruth La Ferla’s questions. When asked about some of her rumored offscreen romances, she refused to answer and said:

“I’m not trying to sell myself. I wouldn’t know how.”

Then came a question about people who criticize her sometimes avant-garde fashion choices. Jones response?

“Those people don’t have degrees in fashion. Why would I care what they say?”

And what about who the father of her son may be? January was for real not having that at all, saying:

“That’s my son’s business. It’s not the public’s business.”

Now we’re not saying we have any problem with an actor wanting to be a private person, but maybe don’t agree to a Times interview if you’re not going to say anything.

McGhie recalls Mizer had “daggers in his eyes” during their first rehearsals. And Mizer remembers how McGhie broke all his rules about dating: “You don’t date actors, you don’t date younger, and you certainly don’t date on the road,” he says in the clip below. “And [Travis] was all three.”

• Gay icon David Beckham gave a tearful farewell to his teammates last night at his final game before retiring from professional soccer.
• All my exes: A judge put a morality clause in a Texas woman’s divorce settlement, ruling she’ll lose custody of her children if her lesbian partner doesn’t move out of the house in 30 days.
• The manager of the Grinning Rat in Suffolk, England, was fired after he turned the pub back into a gay bar. James Iannone says he was “gobsmacked” by his ousting.
• Czech President Milos Zeman is refusing to grant a university professorship to literary historian (and gay-rights leader) Martin C. Putna, saying he “does not recognize people aspiring to teach at universities” who attend Pride festivals.
• Nice touch: President Obama told the all-male graduating class at the Morehouse College commencement ceremony to “be the best husband to your wife, or your boyfriend, or your partner.”

Ryan Gosling is an amazing actor, and one of the most attractive men in the world, but in these just released clips for his latest film, Only God Forgives, which will premiere at Cannes this week, we cannot take our eyes off of Kristin Scott Thomas.

We knew she was gonna kill it in this film.

Thomas and Gosling play mother and son in the film, from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, that tells the story of a man (Gosling) who is urged by his drug lord mother (Thomas) to find and kill whoever is responsible for his brother’s recent death. And, as you will see, this is one mother you do not want to mess with.

So watch as Thomas tells off a hotel employee for no reason, tries to justify her son’s rape and murder of 16 women and has a lengthy conversation with her son’s new girlfriend about the size of his manhood, after calling her a prostitute.

Why can’t this woman be our mother-in-law?

Below, we call out some of the current trends and achievements that Cher got to years before everyone else. Let’s hope the Dark Lady has another couple of decades before she really retires, because the music’s no good without her.

Autotune
The 1998 release of Believe marked Cher’s third (or maybe fourth) comeback. The album’s title single also changed the sound of pop music forever, laying on the autotune so heavily that it altered her voice. Those robotic, disjointed vocals are so everywhere now, but at the time, the sound was so new it was called “the Cher effect.” T-Pain owes her a swimming pool full of wigs.

Playing the Witch in Into the Woods
It looks like a movie version of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods is finally happening. But this is hardly the firs time it’s been proposed: When the idea of an adaptation  first surfaced in the ‘90s, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal were barely old enough to understand the show. But the ex-Mrs. Bono was selected to lend her signature vibrato to the Witch, the show’s iconic villain. Sorry, Meryl, but your Silkwood co-star beat you to the punch. (And if you bow out, Cher’s still our best bet for the part.)

Extreme Plastic Surgery
Getting a full-body overhaul is pretty common in Hollywood today, but it was positively deviant when Cher started taking altering what God gave her. “If I want to put my tits on my back, it’s nobody’s business but my own,” Cher once responded to criticisms about her cosmetic procedures. For better or worse, that mentality paved the way for everyone from Detox to Heidi Montag to joyfully go under the knife.

Dude Drag
“Born This Way” wasn’t the only time Lady Gaga “drew inspiration” from a more established artist: Mama Monster’s male alter ego, Jo Calderone, bears more than a passing resemblance to the Elvis fan who goes “Walking in Memphis” in Cher’s 1995 video. Truth be told, Jo’s a little more believably masculine, but there’s always something special about your first time.

Total Chart-Topping Domination
Forget being the first—sometimes being the only one is the way to go. Cher is the lone musical artist to have Number One hits in every one of the last six decades. The trend started in 1965 with “I Got You Babe,” and continues into the present with 2010’s “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from Burlesque. Half of today’s pop icons might not live long enough to qualify for such an achievement.

As Cher said at the opening of her Farewell Tour: “Follow this, you bitches.”
