This Gay Scotsman Is Pissed There's No Gay Life In Fife

"It sucks. It can be really, really tough."

In spite of being a "proud gay Fifer," 24-year-old Stuart Russell laments the fact that the town has no gay pride or nightlife in a new video for BBC Social.

"For some people, being openly gay is not always possible in a small town. People living in a city may not understand that it's not anonymous like being in a city, it's not always possible for everyone to just go out and slay," he explains.

"It sucks," he continues. "It can be really, really tough. I mean, I'm 24 and I still, to this day, get degrading comments and looks thrown at me in public."

When asked why he doesn't just move, Russell succinctly responds, "The point is, I shouldn't have to, I shouldn't have to uproot my entire life. I love Fife."

In addition to his video work, Russell is a writer and podcaster.
