"Finding Prince Charming": Brandon's Farewell Interview
After making it to the top two, Robert ultimately chose Eric over Brandon during the final black tie affair in Palm Springs on this week's Finding Prince Charming.
Find out what "Little Toot" thought of all the drama in the house, his final dinner with Robert and if his ankle has healed on this week's installment of #Untied.
Why did you decide to do the show?
I felt like my next love affair would come from a great adventure.
What was life like in the house?
It was a lot of bending and dodging and staying in your own lane. And paying attention to how you feel opposed to paying attention to how everyone else feels.
I wasn’t caught up in a lot of the drama because I was clear about why I was there. I made myself available to the other guys who were going through situations, but I was not going to be seduced into the fights and pettiness.
I was really concerned about feeling happy first and foremost—and making a connection with Robert—so that kind of kept me focused.
We’ve been asking the suitors who they would pick as Prince Charming from among the other guys in the house and lot of them said you.
Well, I think I just drew less blood than everyone else! [laughs]. My goal was just to represent my community well and take a shot at love.
If you had to pick a Prince Charming from one of the others guy who would you choose?
Oh, definitely Justin.
Have you kept in touch with the other guys from the house?
A handful of them are in L.A. so I can’t really get away from them. [Laugh!] They all have amazing hearts and I have love for all of them. I think we’e all on the path to finding what we really want.
Did you get closure with Robert?
Honestly, when I was eliminated I was devastated. I was thankful that Robert and I were able to connect and get some clarity after the show.
During your final romantic dinner date Robert started crying. What was going through your mind?
Robert had to excuse himself from the table. I had to sit there awkwardly because I knew that he was crying about having to make a choice between [me and Eric].
For me I was like, “You know what? [The black tie affair] is in three hours, how have you not made your mind up yet?”
I knew whatever choice he made I could not feel 100% comfortable with it so that had me a little uneasy.
Were you surprised that Robert picked Eric?
First, I was in a little freakout still because I have this dirty makeshift cast and I don’t know if I’m going to have to go back to L.A. and have surgery. I can’t drive, I can’t walk, so I’m already kind of riding along the lines of pathetic.
So I’m like, “if I get dumped in this 100-degree weather, in this tuxedo, before an audience of countless people, I don’t know what will happen.”
And for a long time I was kind of sure it was my love story. But leading up to the black-tie affair I could see what was going to happen.
What’s life been like since the show?
The show is definitely an emotional marathon and for a lot of us it didn’t end when we stopped filming. For me, I’ve been trying to stay sound and happy. Life’s been kind of on hold in certain areas but I’ve been doing my best to move forward.
Would you do the show again?
I would do the first season again because there was an innocent exploration and experimentation that the cast and crew all had. No one was really interested in the manipulations of what reality TV can be because we just wanted to be as honest as possible. So in that vein I don’t regret having done the experience at all.
So, how is your ankle?
It’s getting better every day.
