Your First Look at Betty Buckley in the “Hello, Dolly!” Tour

The first official photo has been released of Tony winner Betty Buckley as meddling matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi in the first national tour of Hello, Dolly!

Directed by Jerry Zaks with choreography by Warren Carlyle, the tour kicked off September 25 at the Stanley Theatre in Utica, New York, and officially opens October 5 at Cleveland's Connor Palace. Future stops include Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

Buckley, 71, is joined in the Jerry Herman musical comedy by Lewis J. Stadlen as Horace Vandergelder, Nic Rouleau as Cornelius Hackl, Analisa Leaming as Irene Molloy, Jess LeProtto as Barnaby Tucker, Kristen Hahn as Minnie Fay, Garett Hawe as Ambrose Kemper, Morgan Kirner as Ermengarde, and Jessica Sheridan as Ernestina.

Buckley, who earned a Tony for her performance as Grizabella in Cats, also appeared on Broadway in Pippin, 1776, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Carrie, Sunset Boulevard, and Triumph of Love. Her TV credits include Eight Is Enough, Oz, and Preacher.

Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters, and Donna Murphy played the iconic lead role in the recent Tony-winning Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly!, which ended its run August 25 at the Shubert Theatre.

Other luminaries who have played Dolly on stage include Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Pearl Bailey, Phyllis Diller, Betty Grable, Martha Raye, Ginger Rogers, and Mary Martin. The 1969 film version stars Barbra Streisand.
