Sometimes it seems that Glee has covered every artist in the pop culture landscape — from Journey to Britney Spears, but there are definitely some holes in their song list. We’re got some realistic (and, admittedly, some crackpot) picks for artists and songs missing from the Glee canon.
1. Fall Out Boy. Sure, the show hit its stride after the emo pop punkers took a hiatus, but everybody knows their classics like “Sugar We’re Going Down” and “Dance, Dance.” Sure, they’re pretty wordy, but as a group number we think the club could totally pull it off.
2. NSYNC. Again, the kings of boyband pop have long been on hiatus (we’ll never say broken up, NEVER) but how can Glee keep resisting tracks like “Gone,” “Girlfriend” and “Bye, Bye, Bye?” If boyband newbies The Wanted and One Direction have both gotten love, it’s sacrilege that NSYNC hasn’t gotten their due. (We’ll even note that Backstreet and New Kids on the Block have also been snubbed. Get with the program, Glee.)
3. Panic At The Disco. Another wordy emo-punk prospect, but we’re going to vote a remake of their 2006 VMA Video of the Year track, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” circus wedding moment for Will and Emma’s impending nuptials. Sure, sure, the whole ‘groomsbride is a whore” line doesn’t work at all, but don’t you want to see the glee club in steampunk circus attire and stilts?
4. Scissor Sisters. Yes, their tracks can be a little racy (can you just imagine “Sex and Violence” on the show?), but isn’t this year a whole new Glee? We think Kurt should definitely take on some Scissor Sisters while in NYC. Maybe after a night out a a club? Hmm…
5. Adam Lambert. “What Do You Want From Me” is clearly ripe for an overwrought emotion Glee moment. Why is American Idol’s shining star being ignored?!
What else are we missing? What other artists need a Glee cover, stat? Let us know in the comments!
