“The Flash” Star Rick Cosnett Comes Out as Gay With Cute “Drama”

"I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth every day."

Rick Cosnett, best known for his role as police detective Eddie Thawne on The CW's The Flash, has come out publicly as gay.

"Hi, everyone," Cosnett said Friday in a brief video selfie posted to his Instagram. "Dramatic pause. I’m gay."

"I just wanted everyone to know because I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth every day," the 36-year-old Zimbabwean-Australian actor continued, "and sometimes that is a really hard thing to do when you have all these subconscious things you don’t even know about from childhood and society and from being, you know, just life."

"I'm sure most of you probably knew anyway," he added. "That’s actually all I wanted to say. I also have a sty on my eye, which really adds to the whole drama of the whole thing."

Earlier this week Cosnett posted a photo of himself wearing a white dress and colorful scarf, thanking friends in the caption "for helping me find and experiment with my self expression. Feels good, and terrifying."

Cosnett's other notable credits also include The Vampire DiariesQuantico, and the gay-themed Bolivian drama Tu Me Manques.
