Greg Berlanti is the man Hollywood can't say no to. Fresh off the successes of Arrow and The Flash, the openly gay producer has signed a deal to create a new hourlong drama based on the popular characters from Archie Comics.

Deadline reports that Riverdale has landed on Fox, and will be a drama focusing on the "eternal love triangle" of Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge and Betty Cooper—though the cast will include other popular characters like Moose, Jughead and gay teen Kevin Keller.

Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be writing the series. Previous attempts at bringing the Archie universe to the small screen include a 1960s cartoon that lasted one season and the 1990 TV movie, Archie: Return to Riverdale , which saw the eternally youthful teens as 30somethings at a reunion. Of course, who could forget Sabrina the Teen-Aged Witch, which aired on ABC for seven years?

"This is something we’ve been working on for a while now, figuring out the best way to bring these characters to life for what will be, essentially, the first time," said Aguirre-Sacasa, previously a writer for Glee and Big Love. "The entire team working on Riverdale is as passionate about Archie as Jon and I are, so it feels like the stars have finally aligned for Archie and the rest of the gang."

So, who should play the Riverdale High kids? Well, since Berlanti's boyfriend, Robbie Rogers, wasn't cast in The Flash we think he'd be perfect as good-looking rich kid Reggie Mantle. After all, he's only 27—weren't the original 90210 actors in their 40s?
