Florence + The Machine Return With Soulful New Song "Sky Full Of Song"

"I couldn't hide from the thunder in a sky full of song."

Florence + The Machine have graced us with new music today: The soulful "Sky Full of Song" is the group's first single since 2016's "Wish That You Were Here" off the soundtrack for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Directed by AG Rojas, the video for "Sky Full of Song" is a minimalist black-and-white affair that sees lead singer Florence Welch lying on the floor as she sings:

Grab me by my ankles, I've been flying for too long

I couldn't hide from the thunder in a sky full of song

And I want you so badly but you could be anyone

I couldn't hide from the thunder in a sky full of song

There's been no official word on Florence and the Machine's upcoming fourth album, though Welch has confirmed it's in the works. Online rumors claim the album, allegedly called As High as Hope will be released in June.

It will be the band's first full release since 2015's How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which earned five Grammy Awards. It will also mark the first album since drummer Christopher Lloyd Hayden left the band in February.

Florence + The Machine will headline the BBC Music Biggest Weekend festival on May 26.
