Fly With the World’s First Completely LGBTQ Flight Crew

Virgin is calling the flight "a true celebration of queer culture 38,000 ft. above the Atlantic."

Forget friendlier, the skies are about to get a whole lot gayer in 2019. That’s because Virgin Holidays and Virgin Atlantic have announced plans to fly its inaugural Pride Flight from London to New York next June.

The one-off flight will transport revelers across the Atlantic for World Pride 2019, the first time the event will take place in the United States. New York City was chosen to host to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, the event that set off the modern LGBTQ civil rights movement.

For those lucky enough to snag a boarding pass, Tituss Burgess, star of Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, will oversee an in-flight entertainment program that includes Drag Queen Bingo, a Judy Garland singalong, an onboard DJ, and inter-seat speed dating.

Virgin’s Pride Flight is scheduled to depart Heathrow Airport on Friday, June 28, 2019, and land six hours later in Newark, New Jersey. Tickets cost £380 ($500) for the flight only, and £699 ($925) for a three-night World Pride package.
