Former NFL Player Calls Support For Marriage Equality The Work Of Satan

The New England Patriots were among the more than 375 companies that signed an amicus brief last week, encouraging the Supreme Court to strike down bans on marriage equality.

That didn't sit to well with former Patriots running back Craig James.

Asked on a Family Research Counncil radio show how he felt about the Pats signing the brief, James said, “If I were a current player in that locker room and my livelihood depended on me being quiet or losing it because of my belief system, I'd worry."

The rising support for the freedom to marry, he added, "is Satan working on us.”

A former SMU all-star who played in the NFL in the 1980s, James, now works for FRC as Tony Perkins assistant.

But when he ran for senator in Texas in 2012, he declared homosexuality was a choice and gay people "would answer to the Lord for their actions."

TMZ reports James was later fired as a Fox Sports commentator after just one appearance because the network was afraid of being associated with his rabid homophobia.
