Former Spice Girl Mel B Says She Was A Lesbian "For A Few Years" In The 90's

Mel B, the infallible pop star you grew up calling Scary Spice, revealed that she spiced up her life with several lady lovers "over the course of several years" during her tenure with The Spice Girls, though she doesn't necessarily believe that makes her a lesbian.

And you thought Sporty Spice was the one giving off gay vibes!

The current X-Factor judge dropped the les-bomb during an interview with English comedian Alan Carr that aired last night on his Channel 4 variety show, Chatty Man. She's been suggestively linked with female companions in the past, but refers to her time as a "lesbian" as nothing more than a phase many heterosexual women experience.

scary-spice-hair-mel-b-spice-girls"Yeah, I was one of those for a few years," she told Carr, referring to heterosexual women who "become lesbians" for kicks. "I would not call it [lesbianism]," she clarified. "I was just one of those ladies. Now I'm happily married."

Mel B, now 39, has three children and has been married to her husband Stephen Belafonte for 7 years. Strangely enough, she says she engaged in several "lesbian" relationships during the height of her Spice Girls fame, though it was her bandmate Mel C who's been dogged by lesbian rumors since the band's early days.

In 2011, Mel C told Us that rumors of her being a lesbian partly drove her into depression and bulimia. "There were a lot of lies printed," she said. "The tabloids were cruel about my appearance, and nothing can prepare you for that. You just have to fight your way through it."

And that's exactly why we're glad the state of pop music is much, much different today.
