Every day during the month of June, we will be spotlighting our 2018 Logo30. The powerful series profiles ordinary and extraordinary people who show pride in unique and provocative ways. Visit the Logo30 homepage to learn more about the series.

Fortune Feimster is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. She appeared on Last Comic Standing in 2010, and wrote for E!’s Chelsea Lately. She landed a half-hour Netflix special as part of last year’s The Standups, and plays gym trainer Ruby in NBC’s Champions. Feimster believes in the power of LGBTQ representation and positivity.

“I just want us to be able to live our lives and get to be productive [members] of society who are accepted, and no one’s doing a double-take if we’re walking down the street holding hands with our loved ones…not having to fight for anything…able to bask in our equality,” she tells NewNowNext.

“I have hope because I think what’s happened in the last year and a half…has been a big wake-up call to people to take what’s going on in our country more seriously; to be more mindful, to show up, to be more active.”
