GA High School Gay Bashing Victim Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Timothy Jefferson and another victim had to be taken to the hospital after they were attacked at school. The victims say they were targeted because of their sexual orientation.

We reported last week on two gay students who were attacked by a group of classmates outside their Atlanta high school.

Now it appears one of the two victims, 17-year-old Zy’derryo Brown, has actually been charged with disorderly conduct in conjunction with the incident on April 20 outside Carver High School.

Several of his juvenile attackers have been charged with "affray," or fighting.

Authorities won't be investigating the assault as a hate crime, saying they no longer believe Brown and Timothy Jefferson Jefferson were attacked because of their sexuality—although witnesses report hearing the attackers call them “f**gots” and “gay-ass ni***r.”

Brown was taken to the hospital with a bloody mouth and loose teeth after being kicked in the head, while. Jefferson was stabbed in the face with a screwdriver.

“They don’t like us cause we’re gay,” Jefferson said after the attack. He and Brown came out in 2013 and have repeatedly been bullied, harassed and physically attacked.

A police spokesperson say surveillance video show that Monday's violence was less of an ambush and more of a schoolyard brawl.
