Gay Art Student Will Lose His Virginity In London Gallery This Spring

Last fall we reported on Clayton Pettet, the 19-year-old British art student who planned to lose his virginity in front of an audience at an art gallery, as part of a performance art piece.

Well, Pettet has nailed down the date and time: April 2, at the Orange Dot gallery in Bloomsbury, a swank London neighborhood. Approximately 150 people will watch as Pettet is penetrated by a male partner in a piece titled Art School Stole My Virginity.

“Since culturally we do hold quite a lot of value to the idea of virginity I have decided to use mine and the loss of it to create a piece that I think will stimulate interesting debate and questions regarding the subject,” he said back in October.

Is Pettet actually still a virgin? A student at Central St. Martin’s College, he told Attitude magazine, “Virginity is subjective because it has no physical attributes. First experiences are real, and what you determine to be your first experience.”

The young artist knows there are those who would dismiss his endeavor, but says “I don’t mind if people judge me – that’s art, everyone judges art.
