A Hot Gay Couple Are Actually Angels In The Supernatural TV Series "Midnight, Texas"

Calling all "True Blood" fans.

Midnight, Texas is a new NBC series based on Charlaine Harris' book trilogy of the same name. Like the previous show inspired by a series of her books, True Blood, Midnight, Texas is about a small southern town inhabited by sexy supernatural residents—including a hot gay couple who are known as Mr. and Mr. Strong.

NBC

One half of the couple, Joe Strong, is played by Jason Lewis who you might know better as Smith Jerrod from Sex and the City. The husbands run their own business, Strong Angel Tattoo and Nails, where Joe is a tattoo artist and his husband, Chuy (Bernardo Saracino), runs a cosmetology business.

The two men being a couple is public knowledge to the town's residents, what isn't is that they are angels—with wings and all—who watch over the town.

In a scene in the pilot, Joe reveals his wings to viewers as they come out of his back, take over his arms and allow him to fly. Joe has been living among men for millennia, "waiting for the arrival of the one who can lead an army to stop the apocalypse—as foretold in a prophecy."

NBC

Joe and Chuy are central characters on Midnight, Texas and it sounds like they will play an integral role in this town full of psychics, witches and other supernatural creatures as they fight the impending apocalypse.

"Some of the best humans in all stories are the misfits, the people who didn't fit in. That's certainly a message in our show, that everybody has a place where they belong," Lewis told Access Hollywood at this past weekend's San Diego Comic Con.

This isn't the first time that the actor has played gay on TV. In 2007 he played a closeted soap star on Brothers & Sisters who had a fling with Matthew Rhys' character, Kevin.

ABC

Midnight, Texas debuted with strong ratings, and according to IMDB, Lewis will be in all ten episodes of the first season, so if you're a fan of True Blood— or just miss seeing Smith Jerrod on your TV—you might want to tune in for this supernatural guilty pleasure.

The Strongs are the latest example of gay couples getting more screen time on cable this year, following the graphic sex scene between Salim the Jinn in the first season of Starz's American Gods.
