British footballer Robbie Rogers, who announced he was gay in February and then immediately retired, may be coming back to the sport.

According to The Guardian, Rogers has been training this week with the L.A. Galaxy, the former home of international soccer stud David Beckham, who signed with Paris St. Germain earlier this year. That could mean the team is looking to sign the 25-year-old winger, who was released by Leeds United in January. (The Galaxy would have to trade with the Chicago Fire, which currently holds Rogers Major League Soccer rights.)

Coach Bruce Arena, who says Rogers' relationship with the squad is "open-ended," praised his performance on Tuesday. "He looked a lot sharper than I thought he would today, given the fact he's been away from the game for a while" Arena said on the Galaxy website. "The timing I guess is good. I think our league is a progressive league. Our league is a league comprised of all different races, colours and creeds, and to be accepting of a gay athlete I don't think is anything that's difficult for our league.
