The Gay Storyline That Was Deleted From "Love, Actually"

Gay love, actually, is all around.

The holiday season brings all sorts of traditions, and for fans of the movie Love, Actually, watching the classic Christmas rom-com is definitely one of them.

But did you know there was actually a lesbian love story that was sadly cut from the final edit of the movie?

Bonus footage from the DVD sees director Richard Curtis explaining a bit about the subplot, which focused on the headmistress at the school attended by Emma Thompson's kids.

The headmistress (Ann Reid) was eventually cut from the film altogether, but she appears in two scenes—one with Emma's son, and another, much later, when we see her caring for her dying partner (Vicious' Frances De La Tour).

Curtis, who lamented cutting the storyline, says it was there to show that "no matter how unlikely it seems, any character you come across in life has their own complicated tale of love."
