Gay Man Dies Trying To Save His Fiance From Drowning

In a tragic turn of events, a British man is believed to have drowned trying to rescue his fiance, who was having difficulties in their pool.

The bodies of Alan Green, 75, and his partner, Martin Winfield, 59, were found in the pool at their home in Wichenford, Worcestershire, on July 3.

Winfield could not swim, but authorities think he leaped into the pool after Wifield got into trouble. They'd been together for three years and were due to be married in August.

Winfield's three grown children discovered the men after he failed to show up to work.

“It’s tragic. They were so completely in love,” said Winfield's daughter, Claire. “My dad drowned trying to save Alan. He couldn’t swim but had been in and out of the water hundreds of times. They were completely in love and looking forward to getting married.”

Claire called her dad her hero. "He was the only man I’ve ever trusted. He was my daddy and I truly loved him very much.”
