Gay Man Sues NYPD Alleging That They Yelled Homophobic Slurs And Assaulted Him During Pride Parade

“I have seen too much bias and bigotry from NYPD officers, and I hope my case makes a difference."

25-year-old Jacob Alejandro is suing the NYPD alleging that officers fractured his ribs before yelling homophobic slurs at this year's NYC Pride Parade.

According to his Manhattan federal court lawsuit, Alejandro was walking down Christopher Street at 7:30pm when officers pushed him to the ground, injuring his elbows and left arm.

“While Mr. Alejandro lay on the ground bleeding, a defendant officer yelled, in sum, ‘Get the fuck up, you faggot,’” the lawsuit states.

According to the criminal complaint in the case, Alejandro had jumped over a police barricade and then flailed his arms in an attempt to evade the officers.

Officers then piled on top of Alejandro before booking him for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Initially taken to Bellevue Hospital while in police custody, Alejandro checked himself into Coney Island Hospital after his release, where he was diagnosed with fractured ribs.

“I have seen too much bias and bigotry from NYPD officers, and I hope my case makes a difference,” Alejandro told The Post earlier this week.

“There is something particularly vulgar about discriminatory anti-gay conduct from police officers working at a gay pride event," said his lawyer Baree Fett. "This lawsuit is about obtaining a measure of justice for Jacob.”

The NYPD did not respond to The Post's request for comment however a city law department spokeswoman said they will be reviewing the plaintiff's claims.
