Gay Men's Chorus Perform At Star-Studded Funeral For Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers once commented that she wanted her funeral to be “a huge showbiz affair with. Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents.” While Streep might not be at Temple Emanu-El today for the legendary comic's last sendoff, there's plenty of stars in attendance.

Rivers was an ardent supporter of the LGBT community, and the New York City Gay Men's Chorus also gave a musical salute to the late comedy queen.

Outside, throngs of fans stood watch, paying final tribute.

The New York Times reports:

Nearby on the sidewalk, Bronwen Brenner, 13, stood wearing pearls with a 1940s pillbox hat with a jewel studded veil atop her magenta curls. Ms. Rivers would approve of her outfit she thought -- except for the Converse sneakers.

“She probably would criticize me for not wearing heels,” she said.

Rivers was cremated, per her request, before the service.
