Party City Employee Gets Homophobic Valentine's Day Card From Coworker

Don't mess with mama!

An enraged mother posted a photo to Facebook late last Saturday night of a homophobic Valentine's Day card her son received from a supervisor at his work.

The mother in question, Shelley Bramhoff Sikorski, stated that her son, Degas Sikorski, who works at a Party City in Edmonton, had gone into work this past Valentine's Day after not being scheduled for a shift since New Year's Eve.

Degas reports that he had been excited to go into work to hang out and exchange valentines with his coworkers.

That was until he received his own, with the message "FA**** YOU ARE NOT GETTING SHIFTS FOR A REASON!" scrawled in black marker along its front.

Sikorski's mother took to Facebook to post a photo of the valentine along with an impassioned plea to her facebook community:

The post quickly went viral, circulating like wild fire through her network of friends and family. Eventually, it reached the attention of the supervisors at her son's Party City, who ensured The Edmonton Journal that the matter was being investigated thoroughly.

Party City corporate spokesperson Ressa Tomkiewicz wrote to The Journal saying, "Party City does not condone this behaviour and is committed to creating a fair and inclusive working environment."

For his part, Degas Sikorski kept a level head, writing on Facebook of his positive experiences with the company, all while refusing to vilify an entire organization because of what one person wrote.

"This was one person of many. And all the other people I work with are wonderful people."
