Gay Penguin Couple Steals Baby Penguin From Its Bad Parents
Two male penguins recently "kidnapped" a penguin chick from its parents at the Odense Zoo in Denmark.
Zookeeper Sandie Hedgegard Munck says the male penguins, whom she describes as gay, took the chick while its parents were preoccupied, USA Today reports.
Munck tells Danish broadcaster DR the male couple may have felt the chick's birth parents were being neglectful and believed that they were better suited to raise it.
A video posted to Odense Zoo's Facebook page captures the ensuing confrontation between the two penguin couples, squawking over their parental rights like an episode of Maury.
Zookeepers ultimately intervened in the avian drama, returning the chick to its mother and father.
But there's a happy ending here for all animals involved: The zoo has given the loving gay penguins an egg from a mother who's unable to care for it.
