Bebe Zahara Benet Takes You Behind the Scenes of her "I'm the Sh*t" Video Shoot! Intense!!!!
After Bebe Zahara Benet won RuPaul’s Drag Race this past spring she took to the road, performed at clubs from coast to coast, and then... Well, we all wondered, “What’s next?”
Turns out that the glorious creature went to work on recording a single, entitled delicately, “I’m the Sh*t” (this profanity from the cleanest, sweetest draglet of the whole entire Drag Race cast?). And as you can tell from the “behind-the-scenes” clip above, then she went to work putting together a big-ass production for the music video of the same tune...
This ain’t no homemade drag video. There’s choreographers, teams of dancers, makeup, wardrobe... It’s major!
To celebrate, we sent Bebe some questions about the video, the song, and life in general. Read her sass after the jump!
"Face, face, face..." Bebe's giving you face. And some feathers. And a new single.
Outspoken Adam Lambert Leads the OUT 100! Plus, Wanda Sykes, Cyndi Lauper, Will Young, Ongina & More!
The heads of the big gay "Class of 2009."
The annual roll call of the queer who's-who and who's been sassy beyond belief in 2009 known as the OUT 100 has been unleashed on the public, officially. Ready?
Gracing the cover of OUT Magazine for this annual celebrity handjob/tribute is... Adam Lambert, Wanda Sykes, movie director Rob Marshall, legend Cyndi Lauper and "Don't Ask Don't Tell" warrior Lt. Dan Choi.
And f-word happy Adam Lambert has some great quotes in his profile...
Glambert on fame & pleasing gays:
“I’m doing the best I f*cking can, you know?” Adam Lambert asks, as if there’s any way to satisfy all his critics or fans, none of whom even knew his name a year ago.
On his American Idol performance:
“It’s about making a good TV show. I just wanted to be really careful that it didn’t turn into a f*cking pageant. I can sing my face off. All this other stuff is part of a personality, a persona.”
On coming out:
“I didn’t want to acknowledge [being gay] as a mistake or something I was ashamed of — I’m not. It’s part of who I am, but because our nation is the way it is, it’s an announcement. If I lose some fans, f*ck it. I need to be happy too.”
On sexuality:
“To some people, me being sexual is really offensive because I’m gay. They’re like, ‘He’s being really gay.’ And I’m like, actually, ‘No, I’m just being sexual.’ Male sexuality is frightening to America [but] female sexuality is all over the place.”
Adam Lambert: Breaking out, breaking it down...
You can view all of the fab photos and read the profiles on Out.com. It's got a big high-school superlative theme. Cute. But I know you just wanna see some visuals, so scroll down and peek after the jump for more fab pics of Wanda Sykes, Cyndi Lauper, Will Young, Bebe Zahara Benet and more!
CANDY: A New Uber-Glam Trans Fashion Magazine Launches! Sweet!
Lovely Andy over at Towleroad put up this above gorgeous magazine cover of Madrid-based uber-photographer Luis Venegas' new project, Candy, and I'm in love. The magazine is being touted as the first-ever "transversal style" fashion magazine; which means it's all about transexuality, androgyny, transvestism and more. That may be a cloudy bunch of not-necessarily complementary topics (if we get into semantics), and the results look largely fluffy and less in-depth and/or serious... BUT, I'm loving it.
Watch the gorgeous promo video below. You'll get a glimpse of the major talent involved. Icons like Lypsinka and Joey Arias share page-space with young mavericks like Andre J and Hercules & Love Affair's Kim Ann Foxman. And the shooters are big-time greats like Bruce Weber & Terry Richardson, and the style comes from visionaries like Christian LaCroix, Rodarte and V Magazine's James Kaliardos.
There are only 1,000 issues of this dreamy Candy mag, so scramble and get one now!
Maybe the next issue will feature more FTM topics? Photos by Catherine Opie? And I would live for a huge, multi-page uber-glam spread featuring the likes of Justin Bond, Our Lady J, Glenn Marla and other brilliant NYC trans talents... We'll see.
Adam Lambert: Serving slow jams channeling Shirley, Freddie and cooked up by Muse. Yum.
RollingStone.com has a good interview with Adam Lambert, delving in to all the stuff behind the music of his album, For Your Entertainment, that explodes all over your face next Monday, November 23rd. (It's already #1 on iTunes. Oy!) Love Lambert? Then, it's worth a look.
I was struck by the way Lambert describes his ballads on the album:
There's three songs that are really emotional, a little bit slower, softer. One of them is a song that Muse wrote, "Soaked." That opens up with a real soft vocal, it's very tender, the lyrics are very vulnerable, then it goes into a soaring ballad-type feel.
That was another example — we got the song from Muse>, and I was sh*tting myself, I couldn't believe it, I thought, "This is incredible, I can't believe they're giving me a song." I'm a huge fan, and it, too, like the rest of the three that I'm talking about, have this real retro feel to it, melodically and even in the style of the production, very Seventies, at times very Sixties, almost like a Shirley Bassey song mixed with a Queen record.
"Broken Open" you could put it in the same category as a downtempo Goldfrapp song or even like Radiohead, there's shades of that in there, very electronic but mellow, very ethereal.
2009 Thanksgifting Holiday Gift Guide: Things That Sparkle, Dazzle & Shine
The holidays are coming! Rather than bore you with a typical holiday list that mentions items you’re bound to buy anyway, we've compiled a small list of four items we found online that were just too-cool-to-be true.
Vintage Lady Gaga Poker Face Just Dance Sunglasses
As pictured above, these glasses exude hot-pink savvyness with a tidy mix of sharp, too-cool-for-school brashness: the equivalent of wearing a neon sign on your face that advertises how awesome you are. Also comes in Black and White.
Rave Disco Neon Pink Light-Up Poker Sunglasses
A company called Atomic (proper name) actually sells these neon light-up poker sunglasses in a variety of colors. But pink's where it’s at! And besides sporting a long, bizarre title that reads like a horrendous Japanese translation of a product that shouldn't exist, these glasses are simply the shiznit (and for some weird reason, they remind me of slap bracelets).
This Week In Fabulous 11/6: Comedians Turned Models, Justice Being Served and Gays In Charge!
The Fierce One himself hopes you had a fabulous week!
--By Cory Stottlemyer
Well, it's been a sort of eventful week in regards to gay politics this week. I'm making sure that we focus on everything fabulous and awesome that happened this week!
5. Joel McHale gets his model on in GQ.
Zoolander much?
I've always thought funny man Joel McHale is not only hilarious but quite cute as well. The host of E!'s The Soup and the star of the new NBC show Community appeared in a spread in the recent issue of GQ and is looking quite dapper. More of this McHale.
Fierce Halloween outfits, sexy A-list stars and amazing gay politicians after the jump!
This Week In Fabulous 10/30: Naked Comedians, Obnoxiously Cute Gay Boys and a Benevolent Bea Arthur!
Bea Arthur is the definition of class (and sometimes crass). This week's post is for you my dear!
--By Cory Stottlemyer
This week, there's a lot of pretty going on. For all the women and men who love Chelsea Handler, you'll get a kick out of her news!
5. Meet White Collar hottie Matt Bomer.
All I can say is: swoon. Seriously, those eyes! Is he single? Because I doubt he will be for long!
Blah blah blah, USA has a new show called White Collar, blah blah blah, it's about an ex-con who is now working for the FBI or something to catch criminals, blah blah blah. All you need to know is that Matt Bomer is the star and he is gorgeous. And he's openly gay (says Wikipedia)! Does Neil Patrick Harris have some newfound competition for hottest out gay actor?
Sexy comedians, cute gay boys and singing celebrities after the jump!
Jeffree Star Interview Exclusive: Talking Lady Gaga, Halloween, Sex & His "Beauty Killer" Album
Media glamazon Jeffree Star is busy these days. Touring and appearing to promote his debut Beauty Killer album, and just basically continue his flame-haired world domination, he cruised through NYC recently, and we stalked him at his record label's office and chatted him up!
The gender-f**ker pop starlet was as outspoken and fabulous as ever (and really nice, too)! Watch our little video chat above as he dished about his love of rough boys, his Halloween plans (catch him at the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval this Saturday night), his thoughts about what Lady Gaga's got between her legs, and how he uses his media fame for good. For now.
Is Jeffree a drag queen? Is he trans? Just an extra-sparkly boy? We'll let him do the talking, thanks. He's best it at, after all.
Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars, Heroes and Gossip Girl fame, will be playing the role of a cabaret singer in the new Cher/Christina Aguilera flick, Burlesque. Cher plays the owner of a struggling cabaret, and Kristen will be playing her number one girl. If you have never heard Kristen sing, then have a listen above. Christina has some competition!
I think this video just made me cry. Or explode. Or die in a tsunami. Watch the big insane apocalyptic schmaltzy brilliance that is Adam Lambert's "Time for Miracles" video (which premiered on MySpace this morning). His voice makes freeways crumble, flameballs fall from the sky, buildings topple and tidal waves ravage the earth. Woo-hoo! Attagrrrrl!
Okay, maybe that's all just cheezy CGI footage from the forthcoming disaster flick 2012, but it's amazing. Mr. Lambert acts his pants off (only figuratively kids) and wails like a softer, younger, Steven Tyler (but less screechy; and sounding a little Richard Marx-y, frankly). And wears a serious black helmet of hair. And he's sooty. Anybody got a Wet-Nap?
And yes, I'll imagine Lambert is singing to me. If the world is ending, I want a power ballad to distract me please.
Adam Lambert Gropes, Suckles Naked Lady Model for Details! See the Hot Pics! And the Photo Shoot Video!
Um, Adam... That's not her head. You might wanna turn her... Oh, never mind.
Oh hell... Not sure if fussy gay purists are gonna get their knickers twisted over this, BUT I for one am loooving the smutty/arty pics of Adam Lambert getting all smoochy/sucky/gropey with a pretty lady model in the pages of the new Details magazine.
"Wha...? We have our one big new gay pop Idol and they have to make him conform to some hetero-cheeseball rock 'n' roll frat-boy fantasy???" Whatevs. I'm happy that Lambert can have some fun with his image. And he looks hot as hell in the pics. Plus, in the behind-the-scenes video, you can see him having a good laugh at the silliness of it all. How does he describe the shoot? In a word: "Heterosexual..." he laughs. Go Adam!
Check out the video and all the pics... Awww, isn't media riciculous-ness fun?
In the video, Lambert discusses early crushes on Madonna & Paula Abdul, but fear not gays: the openly Jewish star also openly encourages male fans to toss their jock straps on stage. F*ck, yeah!!!!
Dig all the foxy NSFW photos after the jump! And goodness, I haven't even read the cover story yet. Probably oughtta do that.
Adam Lambert & Lady Gaga Record a Song for Lambert's New Album! Yay! Excited Much?
Gaga + Glambert = Not a Bad Romance Whatsoever!
Yup, Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga got together yesterday to record a song that Ms. G wrote for the Idol runner-up. MTV News' crafty Jim Cantiello (aka @JambaJim) has been Tweeting about the news all morning, and he's got the full story!
Lambert tweeted a confirmation early today: "Yes it's true: I spent yesterday in the studio w the insanely talented and creative Lady Gaga recording a song that she wrote! I love her," Lambert tweeted. He soon added: "GaGa just gets it, ya know?"
It's not yet certain if the tune (not a duet, just a hot new Gaga-penned tune for Glambert) will be on Lambert's debut post-Idol release, For Your Entertainment, slated to drop on November 23rd. But why the hell not? Crank it out, kids!
This news makes me happy, even if we all saw it coming a mile away. Wasn't it inevitable that Lambert would be riding on Gaga's disco stick sooner or later? Yee-haw!
Tween Idol Mika's New "Rain" Video Premieres Online! Plus, His "Poker Face" Cover!
Mika: Sweet as candy and beloved by kids just as much.
I had the good fortune of catching Mika in concert in NYC on Friday night. Yee-haw, that lanky Lebanese-born pop-star puts on a good show! Marionettes, giant inflatable balls, day-glo outfits, zingy pop music and a house-full of screaming gays and 13-year-old girls.
Did you know Mika had such a crrrraazzy rabid tween fan-base? Seriously, it seemed like over half the crowd was comprised of 7th-grade girls, their bffs, and their parents. It certainly made for an enthusiastic crowd! They sang along (loudly!), screamed, danced in the aisles and gushed effusively. (Ok, so did the gays, too.)
Below, check out the spooky/sassy video for "Rain" which hit the 'net today! And the "Rain" CD single (out Nov. 23rd) will feature "Rain" remixes and a Mika cover of "Poker Face," which is pretty hot. He did it for a BBC Radio1 Live Lounge show.
And in case you missed it, below is a somewhat grainy clip of the "Blame It On the Girls" video which popped up online recently, too. CUTE!
X Factor's Leading Men: Danyl Johnson & Joe McElderry. Got a Favorite?
X Factor's Top Men: Danyl Johnson & Joe McElderry (right).
The UK's X Factor talent competition show is going strong. Whitney Houston performed on it this past Saturday (her dress was a mess; as many say her performance was). And then the show's judge Dannii Minogue got in trouble for joking on-air about contestant Danyl Johnson's bisexuality.
But Danyl Johnson needn't apparently worry. He's one of the front-runners to win the competition. And yes, he has come out as bisexual; he's apparently hosted a long-running karaoke show at London's gay Ku Bar for awhile. Meanwhile, other contestants say Danyl's an arrogant bully. Eh? Below is his performance of Whitney Houston's "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." Whattya think?
And then there's cute-as-a-Disney-chipmunk Joe McElderry. I'm not finding published evidence of Joe's gayness; but apparently in a back-story profile, as a kid Joe dabbled in transvestitism (but what kid doesn't)? For what it's worth, Boy George tweeted this past weekend: "I think Joe McElderry should win X Factor, he has great soul and a gorgeous smile." Does Joe have your Gaydar buzzing?
Watch performances by both Danyl and Joe below. You like? In that way?
Recovering Divas: Whitney on X Factor; Boy George Talks Rehab. Are They Back for Good?
Whitney on TV in Germany this past week; Boy George hits a London fashion show last month.
This weekend two 80s divas hit the UK media circuit in a big way. Whitney Houston did a guest performance on Simon Cowell's X Factor talent parade (the Idol-esque show which gave the world Leona Lewis). The show's contestants all sang songs by divas, with Whitney's hits getting peformed by a bunch of them. You can watch her performance of "Million Dollar Bill" on the show below.
How do you think Whitney did? Some of the UK press have been critical about it. Yes, she was a little messy. She might wanna stay away from dancing, frankly. Her begrudging attempts at choreography were sort of amusingly weak; but you could tell she didn't care. And besides, her dress was nearly falling off! And, the gown was all wrong anyway; way too matronly diva. She should be in a shorter, more contemporary dress. That big droopy sequined number was weighing her down, she had to drag it all over the stage.
But she's still fascinating to watch. Of course, Boy George sniped via his @theBoyGeorge Twitter account: "Whitney was messy on X-Factor, it's not right and it's far from ok!" Such a bitch (I sort of love it.) Though maybe he was commenting on the way her performance was handled or conceived, rather than Whitney's own responsibility for it? Who can say?
Mika Does Letterman; Arjan's Got a Free "Rain" Remix for You! Download Away!
Mika arrives the Letterman studio on Wednesday. Cute, much?
Lovely Brit-boy pop star Mika is making the rounds for his new album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much. Tonight he hits NYC with a sure-to-be sparkly good show way uptown at the gilded and ornate United Palace Theatre. I'm going! I'll serve up a report on Monday.
Fittingly, given the completely cold and messy weather we're having, Arjan at Arjanwrites has a hot mp3 download of the new Magistrates remix of "Rain" which can be yours for free right now. The track (which Mika wrote about a big breakup) was produced by Stuart Price, and the result is a sleek pop confection that's also kind of gorgeously angsty. The official "Rain" single gets released on November 23rd.
And look at him!!!! Glambert is known for his fashion-y excess, but he's looking like he stole Kate Gosselin's wig, painted it black, put it on sideways and then suited up for the all-gay production of Little House on the Prairie! (Which, when you think of it would be the best show of all time.)
But no matter. As soon as Lambert opens his mouth, he's so nice and sweet my crabby critique just turned to thoughts of puppies and popsicles. Smooches all around!
Oh, but... Ouch. Gurl, somebody needs some lip-chap.
Neil Patrick Harris Vs. Batman: A Musical Preview of His Cartoon Supervillain Alter Ego!
Neil Patrick Harris' Music Meister: Channeling 80s-pop-singer Falco, maybe?
EW's Michael Ausiello -- always with a nose for sassy TV news -- has posted a totally cute musical video snippet of the new Batman villain, Music Meister (who's very fond of festive costume changes apparently) voiced by everyone's favorite gay TV-it-boy/nerd Neil Patrick Harris. Head to EW.com for a look at the zingy musical number, "Drives Us Bats!"
The full episode of Beyond Batman: The Brave and the Bold will premiere on Cartoon Network on October 23rd. Meanwhile, this gig must have been heaven for self-proclaimed geek NPH.
And since I'm not too familiar with the Beyond Batman series, I gotta ask: Is it always this, er, gay? Or am I just reading too much into this sassy musical number featuring big bad guys working out in prison and villains with campy facial hair singing petulantly? Even Aquaman shows up, looking studly with a hot blond beard, yet pouting 'cuz Batman gets all the good hero gigs. GAY!!!
Anyway, it's also just one more step in NPH's ever increasing world takeover. Holy Homo Megastars, Batman!
And because I can't ever resist a pic of cute NPH and David Burtka, here are the happy gents in NYC last week. (Photo by Bruce Glikas/Getty.)
Adam Lambert's Leaked Song from 2012, "Time for Miracles..." You Like?
This popped up this past weekend: A leak of "Time for Miracles," which is the tune gay Idol almost-champ Adam Lambert recorded for the big new 2012 film, and his first big solo single. Get a taste above!
Nice to know AL isn't playing around. This one sounds hugely epic and Aerosmith-worthy... But come on! I wanna to hear the whole thing to experience some Adam wailing at its best. Meanwhile, November 24th is the street date for Adam's his full-on album. Can you wait?
Hear that? It's Adam Lambert's new single and holiday-season world takeover hurtling toward us all!!!!
Gately made waves in 1999 when he came out, making him the first openly gay member of a boy band. As a rabid Boyzone fan (and one of the few teenage anglophiles I knew), I remember talking about the story non-stop with my sister when it happened. Not because I was surprised that he was gay - we knew one of them had to be (though I had my money on Shane) - but because I was shocked he had come out at all. In the 90's it didn't seem possible to be gay and in a successful boy band.
But Gately proved me wrong. That same year Boyzone released their greatest hits album, By Request, which went on to be the 2nd bestselling album that year. And once the band split in 2000, he continued working, this time in theater.
The boys reunited last year for a comeback tour and put out a new single "Love You Anyway" (check out the adorable video above). A new album was recorded that is set for release in 2010. Gately's passing is a true loss, but it's safe to say that while he was with us he made a lasting contribution.
The cast of Broadway's Hair took the stage at the National Equality March and Rally yesterday, toward the end around 5pm. The sun was beaming down on the Capitol and the hundreds of thousands gathered there, and when the gorgeous cast members belted out "Let the Sun Shine In" it was pretty amazing. Get a small sample above!
Hair's Gavin Creel led his crew of Broadway Impact activists (a group of theater professionals from NYC), bringing buses of people to the march and rallying support for the march. Gavin also tweeted nonstop; you can review his posts from the live coverage still viewable on 365Gay.com.
Sunday's March: Lady Gaga, Cynthia Nixon, Lots of Inspiration & Youthful Energy
Yesterday's National Equality March in D.C. drew easily 200,000. I was there (we covered it live on 365Gay.com) and it was a pretty exuberant day. There were inspiring calls to actions by the rally speakers, and amazing signs with hilarious, sharp slogans toted as a couple hundred thousand gay rights supporters marched to the Capitol. And yep, Lady Gaga took the stage before the roaring masses, proclaimed it to be "the single most important moment in my career," and then spoke to the President, "Obama, I know you're listening!"
But what really was amazing was the range of the people who turned out. So many young people, from about 16 up. And some gays in their 80s! Also, there were many many straight couples out supporting LGBT rights... You couldn't peg the demographic as just white gay men. It was truly an impressive mix.
At the National Equality March: The kids are all right.
I'm gonna have more pics coming today... Click through or look below to watch Cynthia Nixon speaking.

Rufus Wainwright, Justin Bond, Top Chef's Ash & Mayor Bloomberg Turn Out for Gay Homeless Youth
Rufus asks the crowd to hold their appplause, just for a sec. Photo by Kevin Tachman/BackstageAT.com.
Last night in NYC Rufus Wainwright performed, Justin Bond hosted, Sandra Bernhard looked fab and Mayor Mike Bloomberg announced that he's appointed a big important committee to address the harsh issue of homeless LGBT youth in the city... This all happened at a big, festive fundraiser, "A Place at the Table" which benefitted the Ali Forney Center, NYC's outstanding non-profit that provides housing, counseling and other life-saving services for homeless queer youth.
The turnout was big, the spirits were high, the auction items got bidded on, and the crowd ate it up. They also noshed on gourmet snacks prepped by star chefs, including the totally fab Ash Fulk, still in the running on the current season of Bravo's Top Chef. (Fulk's restaurant, Trestle on Tenth, was just around the corner from the Chelsea Art Museum, where the benefit went down.)
Logo's NewNowNext PopLab has a special episode airing tonight at 7pm, with footage from a festive show at Six Flags in San Francisco featuring the Paradiso Girls and LMFAO. But if you want some full-on gay music video hotness, watch the latest TV-premiere from gay Israeli pop-star Yehonathan above. It's his single "My Turn" and the tune is a reliable thumpy, catchy dancefloor steamer.
The "My Turn" video is kinda corny maybe, but I don't mind watching cute Yeho chasing after a boy on the dancefloor and getting into some kind of gropey man-scuffle. FUN!
Rufus Wainwright Loves Cheese, Surfing, His Boyfriend & Helping Homeless LGBT Youth!
Rufus Wainwright and his German hubby, Jorn.
New York Magazine has a festive interview with Rufus Wainwright up today! Rufus' new concert DVD, Milwaukee at Last!!! (which was shot by documentary filmmaking legend Albert Maysles, of Grey Gardens fame) is out now, he's got some shows around the Northeast in the next weeks, and he's giddy to talk about it all.
First off, catch Rufus in NYC next Monday, October 5th at "A Place at the Table," the fancy gala benefit for the Ali Forney Center (which provides housing and services for homeless LGBT youth). It's a fab cause and Rufus will rock the house!
Meanwhile, Rufus divulges to NY Mag that he's happily ensconced back in New York, living with his handsome beau Jorn in Chelsea and spending time at a new Hamptons house taking yoga and surfing lessons. Zoinks!
The Gossip's "Music for Men" Shows You Its Big Gay Muscles! Fun Video!
The Gossip's latest album, the scorchingly hot Music for Men officially comes out in the U.S. next Tuesday (Oct. 6th). As if the band, led by out frontwoman and international icon of amazingness Beth Ditto weren't gay enough, they created the above promo to help arouse, er... interest in the record.
God, could I love this band more???? Like they say, "they know what a man needs..." This sweaty, pink, throbbing, dirty-fingernailed promo is my favorite thing ever. And to be even more universally homo-tastic, they recorded versions in French, Spanish, Japanese and German, too.
Why does the German one sound extra-dirty? And the Japanese one is just brilliant. And yes, if you think the little chipmunky chuckling at the end seems freaky, you're not alone. I love it -- and it scares me! All good things...
Beth and the band are touring all over the U.S. starting Wednesday, October 7th in D.C. Go, go, go, go, go, go see them.
These sweaty sluts wanna pump you up, Gossip-style!
New Gay Pop Starlet Sliimy Loves NYC! Photos from His First Showcase! Sparkles! Balloons!
Sliimy does NYC! His TwitPic after his showcase and a night out at Splash. Woo-hoo!
New French pop wunderkind Sliimy is making the rounds and he hit NYC in a big way yesterday! On Thursday morning, he visited the adorable Fred Flare store in Brooklyn and was greeted by big gay cheerleaders! Then, around lunchtime he headed to MTV and Logo to shoot some stuff that you'll see soon online!
Last night he served up his first real NYC performance, with a little acoustic showcase at a new glittery club in Chelsea, Juliet's. The crowd was cute and PR goddess Liz Rosenberg (yes, as in Madonna, Cher & Stevie Nicks' Liz Rosenberg) introduced Sliimy; she's working on his press. Nice score, Sliimy!
Anyway his show was delightful, serving up about 5 songs including his first single "Wake Up," his fab cover of "Womanizer" and a few others that captured his sunny, quirkly, melodic style. Wearing a glittery gold jacket, superskinny jeans, curly black hair a-flopping and his hands painted blue (why not?) Sliimy charmed the crowd. Now I wanna see him in a full on pop-tastic show with electronics and instruments and visuals galore!
After the jump, check out photos! I talked to Sliimy and he said one big highlight of his day was meeting Mika, while he was at the Logo shoot. Yay! I love it when floppy-haired prancey boy pop-stars meet!
Sliimy: Meet the New Gay French Pop Artist You Should Know!
This one comes via Perez Hilton, but check out the lil' Euro pop-star newbie, Sliimy! (The name rhymes with Jimmy, fyi.) It's like Mika and Christian Siriano had a little gay French baby!
Sliimy's album Paint Your Face is due out today. But there's more! Sliimy will be appearing on the Perez Hilton Presents Tour, he was the first artist signed to Perez's new label, he's opened for Katy Perry and Britney in Europe, and he's up for a MTV Europe award for Best European Act. Evidently, Sliimy hit it big in Europe with a cover of Britney's "Womanizer" and his artsy-crafty videos. And he's still just a wee pup, barely out of high school!
Watch tons of his videos on his own Sliimy site, and here's a cute interview with the gay French mag Yagg, in which Sliimy talks about coming out, music, Mika and more!
Check out a bunch of fun Sliimy pics after the jump!
Queer Band Drama: The Cliks Split! Lesbian Band Members Bolt, and Frontman Lucas Explains It All!
Lucas Silveira: Founder and remaining member of The Cliks.
For the past few 2 years, the Toronto-based rockers The Cliks have practically been a poster-band for queer awesomeness. Their most recent line-up boasted transman Lucas Silveira at the helm, serving up vocals and guitar and all-around badass-ness. And flanking Lucas were lesbians Jen Benton on bass and Morgan Doctor on drums. The trio released their latest album, Dirty King this summer, and the title track's video has been playing all over Logo.
But now comes the news that Jen and Morgon have bolted and quit, making The Cliks a one-man band. For now. Today, the dudes over at Penetration posted an interview with Lucas giving us a rundown of all the breakup details. Basically, the kids weren't getting along and things took their course. But not before some booze-fuled fights and drama.
Says Lucas of how the big break-up came down: "Ooh snap-drama and drunken brawls were the initial stages pretty much. The final decision came through technology. Morgan was sensitive enough to do it through a text on her iPhone. Ha-ha. Jen quit one day after and she and I had a sit-down. It was emotional and difficult. Not many people understand the relationship band mates have with each other. IIt's like a marriage and just as in marriages, when you stop growing together, you know it’s time for divorce."
The Cliks, when they were three...
More quotes and inside drama after the jump. And the video for the band's latest, "Dirty King."
Summer's Last Gasp? A Peek at This Year's Homo-a-Go-Go in San Francisco; Indie Queers Galore!
Yes, summer's pretty much over and we're all bummed. But this coming Sunday, you can experience one last gasp of homo-fueled summertime goodness when Logo's NewNowNext Music airs a special episode, packed with footage and interviews shot out in San Francisco in August, during the very cool and crunchy Homo-a-Go-Go festival.
In what may have been the biggest confab of indie queer artists anywhere (in recent memory, anyway) Homo-a-Go-Go drew the likes of Erase Errata, Girl in a Coma, Katastrophe, Glass Candy, Athens Boys Choir and even contributions from the likes of legends Peaches Christ and Krylon Superstar.

Beth Ditto explains the importance of industrial strength eye liner. And how to get it off.

NewNowNext Noise: Video Interview with DJ Saratonin!
-- By Becca Roth
Not so long ago, I met up with Sarah Alexander, better known as DJ Saratonin, on Tuesday at a deli on NYC's Lower East Side, right before her set at the nearby club, The Delancey.
Originally an aspiring party promoter, Saratonin discovered DJing about 10years ago, and has never looked back. She’s based in California, but travels the country to play for mostly lesbian groups, and we were lucky to catch up with her while she was in New York.
You can catch DJ Saratonin on the Sweet Caribbean cruise (November 2009), which provides travel-happy lesbians with back to back entertainment and celebrity guests. You can also catch her at the Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend in March, which is the largest lesbian event in the world. She is also the resident DJ at Truck Stop, which has been featured on Logo’s Gimme Sugar. Also check her out on her MySpace and then befriend/follow her own DJ Saratonin website.
Can we just nominate the Vogue Evoution children for sainthood? They're fierce, amazingly talented dancers, bringing gay-realness and educating the masses each week on America's Best Dance Crew. And they're just so darn cool and sweet and nice! (Via Remote Control.)
Enough with the gushing. Watch the cute video above. Love, love, love...
Awwwww... As if Grizzly Bear's music wasn't sweet and homo-flavored enough (frontman Ed Droste is a nice gay), video-meister Gabe Askew has made his own awesome, artful video for the band's tune "Two Weeks." Askew's straight, but the video's gay, animated and just fab. (Via AfterElton & Towleroad)
Every year or so, the Logo folks want to get your take on what's the sexiest video ever? This year is no exception, and right now they want your vote! A slew of recent clips are up for voting for The Click List: Ultimate Sexiest Videos Ever, and the candidates are fun mix of gay (Colton Ford, Yehonathan, RuPaul, Von Iva, Uh Huh Her), gay-ish (Lady Gaga) and not-gay but fierce (Beyonce, Keri Hilson, Britney).
You need to go vote now. To get primed, enjoy the meaty goodness that is Colton Ford (above) and his mesh-tastic take on R.E.M. And below, celebrate the never-ending glam that has become Lady Gaga.
After the jump, I've included Israeli pop hottie Yehonathan for good measure.
The winners will be revealed on Logo over Labor Day weekend, which is soon. Stay tuned!
The all-gay dance gang on America's Best Dance Crew, Vogue Evolution, turned it out again this past Sunday night. The evening was a big Beyonce challenge, as all the crews had to perform to a Beyonce tune incorporating moves from her videos--as instructed by Miss B herself.
And yes, Vogue Evolution brought it and delivered an African-dance-flavored serving of "Deja Vu," which had the crowd freaking out and had Lil' Mama on her feet. They continued on to the next level, naturally. Watch the whole episode above. VE shows up around 25:00 minutes in.
George Michael Collides with Truck; Taken In for Possible DUI, then Released. Oy!
George Michael: Road Hazard?
Maybe George Michael should just hire a driver. Turns out the pop star, who's been known to have problems staying coherent behind the wheel was in an accident this past weekend, when his Land Rover collided with a lorry (that's British for truck) in the Berkshire region of England.
Michael was then arrested for suspicion of "driving under the influence" following the incident. A witness told the British newspaper The Sun that the singer "must have been doing 100mph. When he got out he couldn't walk straight." However, after a couple of hours, Michael was released without charge.
Since the incident, Michael has spoken out saying he was "stone cold sober" and that this latest mess is a big misunderstanding. Let's hope so! Michael also spoke to his fans who might be feeling a bit of deja vu, given his dodgy driving/DUI record: "I don't want my fans or my family worried by what they are reading all over again."
Michael was banned for driving for two years back in 2007 after he was convicted of driving while unfit as a result of drug use. And last fall, Michael was arrested in a public toilet for drug possession.
To remember how fun GM can be when not driving or being arrested, check out this clip of him serving up a surprise performance with Beyonce earlier this summer in London. It's an "If I Were a Boy" duet!
Rufus Wainwright's Got a New Concert DVD! Get Ready to Meet Him in "Milwaukee!!!"
Laverne & Shirley would be so proud! Rufus Wainwright, that insanely talented songsmith who's been crafting gorgeously intricate and melodic music for a decade now (when he's not been channeling Judy Garland on stages around the planet) has a new concert DVD on the way, shot in Milwaukee, of all places.
The new release, breathlessly titled Milwaukee at Last!!!, features Wainwright performing songs from his entire catalog; there are a lot of numbers from Release the Stars (his most recent full-on original album from 2007, as well as the Rufus classics you love from Want One and Two, and some fun covers. And yes, there's a Judy tune or two (and Rufus in drag!) in there, too. It's out in September.
Much more -- including some dish from Rufus himself, and links to watch sneak peeks from the DVD -- after the jump!
Vogue Evolution's Leiomy Talks About Being Transgender with MTV's Remote Control Blog
Leiomy is planning on bringing the fierceness to the upcoming season of America's Best Dance Crew!
Leiomy, one of the fierce members of the dance crew Vogue Evolution, talks about being transgender with MTV's Remote Control Blog. She talks about her family and who she dates.
That's all totally fabulous; big props to her. But let's have some dancing! I definitely can't wait to see her in action!!! I've only seen a short clip of Vogue Evolution dancing so far, and let me tell you, they are a force to be reckoned with. Can't wait for the next season of America's Best Dance Crew to premier this Sunday night at 9 pm ET!
The 3 who make up Jessica 6: clockwise from top left, Morgan, Nomi and Andrew. Cute!
Fans of the ubergayfabulous Hercules & Love Affair may be stoked to know that one of that group's frontwomen, the toweringly hot Nomi Ruiz (she of the melt-worthy vocals on "You Belong" and the very long legs) is now fronting another band/side-project called Jessica 6. The trio is filled out by bassist Andrew Raposo and keyboardist Morgan Wiley, also of H&LA. Such industrious kids...
Jessica 6 (named after a character in the camp/sci-fi classic Logan's Run) is pumping out thumpy, sexy, vogue-y dance music, and they've got a gig in NYC this Friday, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn at Coco 66. They're just back from 2 months of gigs in Europe, so chances are they've got some hot travel stories to share, too.
NewNowNext Interviews Nathaniel Flatt of V Factory: Coming Out, the Oscars, Dating & More!
Nathaniel is noted for being the first boy band member to be openly gay from the start. And he's really cute. I have a new favorite boy bander! Photo courtesy of Leon Le.
--By Cory Stottlemyer
Nathaniel Flatt, a member of the boy band V Factory, recently chatted with me about how he became a boy-bander, being open about his sexuality, and he even dishes about the other group members!
Have you always wanted to be a performer?
Yeah, like ever since I was probably 4 or 5. I remember seeing a show with my family. I saw Peter Pan and I got the bug I guess you could say. I'm the youngest of 4 and I’m the attention-starved kid of the family.
Are there any other performers in your family?
You know what, it’s just me. It’s funny, no one else even sings or dances or has any kind of desire to do that kind of stuff. I don’t know where it came from. My family is full of accountants and such. But it’s always what I’ve wanted to do. My mom is my biggest fan. She’s the mom who came to every show. She wasn’t a stage parent, but she would sit in rehearsals and stuff like that.
When did you first come out?
Let’s see. When I got to college I became comfortable with it. When I was with people who were also gay. You also...do it in stages. I wasn’t comfortable with my family knowing then.
Check out more of the interview, along with several pictures and V Factory videos after the jump!
Mika Strips Down in His New Video for "We Are Golden"
He may be skinny, but the falsetto-loving singer has got a nice set of abs. Who knew?
Mika has chosen to bare it all in his newest music video for the title track from his forthcoming album, "We Are Golden!" Ok, he doesn't strip down completely, but he does goof off and jump around a bunch in his lil' shorts. How scandalous of him! The video takes place in a bedroom that just screams of the vibrant and artsy Mika style -- or of a very precocious drama student of indeterminate sexuality (ahem). Head on over to Perez's big pink mess to watch Mika prancing nearly naked in his new video!
All Gay Vogue Evolution Brings Fierceness to America's Best Dance Crew
Now these boys and girls are FIERCE. I can't wait to see the routines they pull off next season. Photo courtesy of The Ride.
MTV's popular dance show, America's Best Dance Crew, has announced the crews for the upcoming season and there's one team in particular I am already in love with. Vogue Evolution, the show's first openly gay and transgender team, is going to be one of the crews on the upcoming fourth season and let me tell you, they are fierce!
I just watched them vogue and be all around fierce in a couple of videos and let me tell you, they know how to bring it. I will definitely be calling in to vote for them. Head on over here to watch a clip of the group auditioning for the show!
This Week In Fabulous, 7/24: Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniel Radcliffe, Firemen, Madonna & More!
The always raunchy Madonna beckons you to read the rest of this post.
--by Cory Stottlemyer
It's time once again to find out what was truly fabulous about the past week! This week, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of fabulous news involving very attractive men. You know, I'm not complaining. Check it all out below!
5. Jake Gyllenhaal gets his sexy on in the new poster for Prince of Persia.
There's not really much to say about this. Jake Gyllenhaal's upcoming movie, Prince of Persia, just released this movie poster and hot damn, Jake is looking incredibly buff. I'm hoping this movie will follow in Jarhead's footsteps and feature Jake in as little clothes as possible. It's a Disney film, though, so I don't know how much skin will be shown. Oh well, his face is still pretty.
Check out more hot men and other celebrity news after the jump!
Colton Ford Opens Up About His New Album, "Under the Covers"
Oh Colton Ford. The world of music would be so less raunchy without you to constantly pose naked.
Everybody's favorite gay porn-star turned musician, Colton Ford, recently answered a few questions about his upcoming covers album, creatively titled Under the Covers. Colton talks about everything from his many years in the music industry, as well as his porn past. I imagine his life is never boring.
Here's a bit:
How did you end up choosing the songs for UNDER THE COVERS?
I had a couple of ideas going into it, and my manager, Bill Coleman, fed me a lot of great songs, some of which I was familiar with and some not. But they all spoke to me. Working with songs that were not part of my musical background enabled me to get in there and bring my own musical stylings to them.
Why did you choose to record covers instead of original songs this time out?
People have an immediate familiarity and connection with these songs, yet, I’m able to bring a different character with my voice that people wouldn’t expect. It’s a nice way for people to become more familiar with me as a singer and to bring my music to a broader audience.
Check out the rest of the interview -- with the porn questions -- after the jump!
I've blogged about the awesome Holly Miranda very briefly before. I sort of worship this amazing up-and-coming Brooklyn/Tennessee-based singer/songwriter... And you will too. Kanye West even reveres her, which means lots.
Holly's playing a show in NYC this coming weekend; teaming up with another killer out singer, Joan As Police Woman, for a hot gig at the 92nd Street Y - Tribeca on Saturday, January 25th. If you're in NYC, go. You won't be sorry.
And above, watch the hilarious queer comic and AfterEllen vlog-host Liz Feldman in her final "This Just Out" vlog of the season, in which Holly visits. First, Liz's mom appears, and Liz's usual guest Raimie, but about 20 minutes into it comes Holly with a searing live performance and a fun chat with Liz. Hurrah!
Adam Lambert, Kris Allen & the American Idol Kids Hits the Road
Well, you certainly can't say Kris Allen doesn't get into his performances.
Our friends at AfterElton have taken the time to display TONS of pictures from the current American Idol Tour. We thought we'd share with you some of the contestants performing on the tour as well. Who doesn't love shots of cutie Kris Allen and the always fabulous Adam Lambert?
Check out more pictures of the boys and girls of the American Idol tour after the jump!
