Emmy Nominations Announced! Yay Sarah, NPH, Cherry & Ms. Griffin!

375x500_SarahSilverman
If only she'd win... You know a Sarah Silverman acceptance speech would be brutal.

Emmy nominations were announced this morning (it's the 61st year - oy!). 30 Rock and Mad Men got truckloads, no shocker. But some nice surprises... One is that they're allowing more noms in some categories, so now there can be, like, 6 or 7 nominees for stuff like Best Comedy Series and Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

That means, some fresher talent can join the folks who tend to hog all the noms. Like... Sarah Silverman who takes her place among usual suspects Tina Fey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. It's for The Sarah Silverman Program, of course. In which she plays herself (ha!). And which will be on Logo next year. Nice, eh?

450x200_CherryNeilKathy
Cherry, Neil Patrick Harris and Kathy Griffin get some gay Emmy-nomination love. Suck it!

Gays nominated for prizes include Neil Patrick Harris for Best Supporting Actor on a Comedy Series, How I Met Your Mother (NPH will also be hosting the Emmys); Cherry Jones for Best Supporting Actress for playing the President on 24; Sir Ian McKellen for his King Lear special or movie or mini-series thingy; and of course, non-gay Kathy Griffin (whose tireless inclusion and championing of gays in her show My Life on the D-List is unparalleled) is up for Best Reality series, and one or two others.

Sadly, no Emmy love for RuPaul. Surely, Ru can rank along Heidi and Padma as "Best Reality Show Host," right? Or Drag Race should at least have gotten a nod for Best Lighting! It takes a lotta work to blow Ru's sh*t out with those battleship-worthy searchlights, okaaay?

Who I gotta blow to get an Emmy nom up in heerrrre?

AfterElton's got a little gay overview on the Emmy noms. Or check out the Emmy site for the full, completely exhausting list of way too many categories.

The show airs September 20th on CBS.

The BeDazzler: Secret Weapon of The Fashion Show

Crystals
This week the designers are bewitched, bothered and BeDazzled.

Episode 10: Blood, Sweat and Sparkle

-by Eric Walter

The stakes are raised on this week's The Fashion Show when Isaac and Kelly announce that the loser this time will miss out on the chance to present a collection in the season's final fashion show.

I love the mini challenge: Make a dress with two yards of silk and 12 pins. It's super esoteric, yet simultaneously something that every lay person one can understand. Isaac pontificates about draping and the relation of fabric to the human body, but even I can see that this is the basis of a dress.

Draping
Professor Mizrahi presents Fashion Design 101: The Drape.

Frankly it's mystifying to me that this is challenge to any of them. Isn't this something they learned in design school kindergarten? (But we saw what happened when we assumed these kids knew how to sew!)

It's a good introduction to this week's challenge: the evening gown. And for good measure — and some glamorous integrated marketing — let's throw in $30,000 worth of Swarovsky crystals for a bit of the old razzle dazzle.

After weeks and weeks of tepid drama, The Fashion Show goes back to its roots and pulls a Project Runway-style coup by bringing back five eliminated designers to be paired with the remaining five contestants!

Theyre-back
Andrew, Keith, Angel, Haven, and ... ta-dah! Merlin.

It's fun to see the familiar faces we hoped to see so much more from but who were gone so soon. *sigh*

(Plus, the producers had to get them back for season 1 before the show aired and any of them had a chance to see how they actually look on TV!)

Margaret Cho and Barbara Walters Talk Vaginas and Orgasms

Margaretcho
She's raunchy, hilarious, and not afraid to reveal everything about her sex life. With Barbara Walters of all people.

So, in order to promote her new Lifetime show, Drop Dead Diva, Margaret Cho chatted it up with the women of the View yesterday about, what else, her vagina. There's no other way to explain what happened other than being incredibly blunt...so here goes. Apparently, Ms. Cho can't reach the big O while having sex. In order to fix that problem, she went an had a shot of collagen injected right into her G spot.

You know, there are some people who I imagine have heard it all and would never in a million years be shocked by anything. Barbara Walters is one of those people. To see her stare at Cho with her mouth hanging open makes this clip all the more hilarious. Margaret Cho, you are one of the most delightfully bold and hilarious women around. Keep on shocking people!

Check out the clip via The View.

Rumer Willis Adds Some Sapphic Love to "90210"

Rumerwillis
Bruce and Demi's daughter has her eyes set on making it int he acting biz. Maybe playing gay will be her way to fame?

We're back from the much needed three day weekend and we've got some catching up to do. As our friends at AfterEllen reported, Access Hollywood has learned that wannabe actress and celebrity spawn Rumer Willis is set to play gay in an upcoming episode of the CW's 90210 next season. Her character "Gia" will work at the West Beverly High School paper The Blaze News alongside characters Navid (Michael Steger), Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) and Silver (Jessica Stroup).

The "unique" beauty and Jay-Leno-chin-bearing Rumer has already acted on the big screen in last year's female-led comedy The House Bunny. Rumer's character is being described as a "punky cute lesbian." Well, she's definitely got the punky part down.

The Fashion Show Tempts Fate

Psychic
The designers take a field trip to see a psychic. I predict Isaac will say "Harper's Bazaar Mini-Challenge" 12 times. No, 10 times.

Episode 9: In the Cards

-by Eric Walter

You want to mess with someone's head in the middle of an intense competition reality series? Take him to a psychic.

This week's episode of The Fashion Show goes occult on us when the designers are taken to visit a spooky tarot reader. They eat it up, even gasping in unison when she tells Johnny he's going to be traveling. In reality, she doesn't say much of anything useful: believe in yourself, don't worry too much about structure, be more practical, you have a good chance. Even worse, everything she says applies equally to all of the designers.

Tarot-reading
Is this lady any good? I want my money back!

They get to keep their card and create a design that embodies the meaning behind their reading.

Simon Doonan on How to Travel Fabulously - "Beautiful Moments" Vlog, Episode 7

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Oh, dear. Please don't be upset, but this is the final episode of our "Beautiful Moments" vlogs with style guru Simon Doonan. This week, since we're about to say "Bon voyage," Simon pops by to lend some advice about "How to Travel Beautifully."

On "Beautiful People," the madcap Logo series based on Simon's life growing up in dreary suburban England (where he dreams of dashing off to live glamorously in London), Simon's always hankering to escape his hum-drum life. But in reality, Simon reveals he's something of a homebody these days! (Gasp, indeed.)

Still, he's happy to give props to killer vacation spots like the Grand Canyon, tres gay Brighton, England... AND, he tells you how to pack for stylish travel. Less is more, kittens!

Au bientot!

The Fashion Show Pays Homage

Legends
This week's inspiration is like a fabulous box of very expensive crayons.

Episode 8: Ode to La Mode

-by Eric Walter

Designers
We're down to seven contestants, and it's getting harder and harder to say good-bye.

This week The Fashion Show's designers are tested on their knowledge of the legends who came before them. Are they merely brave little tailors, or are they true artists with an appreciation of the fashion trailblazers they owe so much of their inspiration to, whether they realize it or not?

Anna
School teacher Anna knows her history.

After a design history pop quiz, Anna comes out on top. Her reward: She will pair each of her competitors with the classic designer to whom they will be paying hommage in this week's challenge. Some of the contestants love her choice, and others cry sabotage; a few of them really hit the mark, and a couple of them really bite it.

In the end it comes down to Reco and Haven on the bottom.

Under-the-gun
Says Isaac: "It's not just about sewing. It's about knowing."

Simon Doonan's Gay Wedding Advice: "Beautiful Moments" Vlog, Episode 6

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

June is wedding season! And gay marriage (heard of it?) is all the rage, whether we're fighting for it, just trying to land a spouse, or planning our own ceremony in Provincetown, Manchester or Des Moines. But how do you strike the right balance of tender sentiment and balls-out fabulousness?

Never fear. Style maven Simon Doonan has some advice for you. The spry design guru, whose teen years inspired his book Beautiful People (which, in turn, inspired the new series on Logo) has some handy wedding tips. And he knows! He wed his hubby, designer Jonathan Adler, last fall in San Francisco, California. The New York Times even covered it!

One gem of a wedding tip: "Keep it small... But alert the media!" says Simon. We gays must make our presence known. Useful info, given it's Pride season, too.

Enjoy!

P.S. If you do want to buy a copy of Simon's "Beautiful People" book and then get it signed (as we discuss in the vlog), email me at John.Polly@logostaff.com. We'll figure something out!

America's Got Talent's Gay Hasselhoff Love Song

America's Got Talent kicked off its summertime talent show deliriousness last night, and this was one of the more charming gay moments. A nice loan officer from Seattle, David Johnson, strummed about his high school crush... on David Hasselhoff!

Cute! Weird! But it's nice to hear the audience get into it eventually, cheering. Awwwww...

Bravo Exec Andy Cohen Steps Further Into the Limelight

Andycohen
Bravo's Cohen always knows how to get the best out of the Housewives during the reunion shows. Hopefully his new show will be just as entertaining!

Andy Cohen, Senior Vice President of Production and Programming at Bravo and unofficial face of the network, is set to take the skills he learned from hosting Real Housewives reunions to his own show on the the network. Premiering July 16, the new show will be titled "Watch What Happens," taken after the network's slogan.

Unless you're a night owl, you probably won't be watching what happens, as the show is supposed to air at midnight. As for what the show entails, Cohen said it will be him, either a Bravo personality or a real celebrity, some cocktails, and questions from the viewing audience. Sounds like a more tipsy and reality TV driven version of Inside the Actors Studio. Hopefully he'll have Kathy Griffin and the Real Housewives on at the same time so the comedian can rip them to pieces! Now that would be worth checking out.

The Fashion Show Contestants Make it Work

Mood-board
Isaac Mizrahi reveals the contents of his head. Without surgery!

Episode 7: On the Job

-by Eric Walter

The competition is getting fiercer and fiercer on The Fashion Show. With only eight contestants broken up into teams of two — and only four designs to judge this week — it's getting pretty hard to sort the haute couture from the clearance rack.

This week, Isaac sits out the mini challenge so he can make a dramatic entrance later as the inspiration for this week's assignment: design a dress for his collection! They're on the job this week — and appropriately they have an eight-hour day to complete their finished designs.

As if that's not bad enough, Daniella gets randomly assigned to work with Reco. Not only do they have to deal with each other (or not deal, as the case may be), but their colleagues, and we the audience, are treated once again to their bickering.

Daniella-reco-merlin-johnny
Daniella and Reco (don't) feel the love. More importantly, what IS Merlin wearing? He looks like an extra from the Mos Eisley cantina scene in Star Wars.

There is a ray of light, however, when the producers pull Becky Newton (Amanda from Ugly Betty) out from behind the curtain to judge the mini-challenge.

Simon Doonan's Pride Tips: "Beautiful Moments" Vlog, Episode 5 - With Cher & Posh Spice!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

We're in the midst of Pride Season, people! And who better to offer some guidance on how to get through all the parades, parties and vigils with grace and poise than style maven Simon Doonan. The dashing Brit, who's young life is the basis for Logo's delightful show Beautiful People, has seen his share of Gay Pride shenanigans. So soak up some of his wisdom!

Today, in our latest Beautiful Moments vlog, Simon divulges useful Pride tips: Make it glossy (it's all about "floral sheeting") and don't get too terribly wasted, if you can help it (Really, 20 margaritas is plenty, thanks.).

Also, we get Simon's personal stories of Pride, meeting Victoria & David Beckham (the Posh Spice doll factored into this week's Beautiful People, after all) -- and then Cher even makes a cameo!

What could be gayer? Happy Pride!

"Gimme Sugar:Miami" Is Coming at You! Rowwwrrrr!

Just in time for Pride season, the girls of Gimme Sugar: Miami are comig to follow in the footsteps of their season one predecessors by drumming up as much lesbian party-fueled drama as they possibly can. Season one star Charlene has moved from Hollywood to Miami, and she definitely didn't leave the dramatics behind.

As the above video shows, these girls are anything but shy. Isn't that why we watch these ladies, though? The more outspoken they are, the better I say. I'm always up for watching a good screaming match.

Be sure to check out more clips from the first episode at LogoOnline and catch the season premiere of Gimme Sugar: Miami on Monday, June 22 on Logo.

The Fashion Show: "Mean Girls" on the Runway

Fashionshow1
With all the petty drama and gossip on this show, you could have fooled me into thinking I was already watching a group of high school cliques.

Episode 6: Mean Girls

--by Tommy Lei

It’s never too late to relive high school stereotypes—at least not on The Fashion Show. In this week’s episode, the designers are expected to construct a one of a kind piece based on various high school cliques (and presumably clichés as well) – but for adults. Their creations will of course be vigilantly evaluated, in concordance with the nature of the show, for functionality and visual appeal.

Fierce outfits, cat fights, and outlandish gays after the jump!

Janice Dickinson Goes Nuts for the Gays

Oh, Janice Dickinson. You gotta love her. Especially when the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here contestant expresses her undying love for the gays by screaming over and over, "Say no to Prop 8!" and calling out to blogger Perez Hilton, which you can see in the above video.

Who cares if her mind may have been whittled down to nothing more than a handful of sporadically functioning brain cells due to years of imbibing God knows what... Who cares if she's had so much plastic surgery she looks like she used a plunger to enlarge her lips and probably has more botox running through her veins than blood? At least the brilliant Ms. D knows who her main supporters are (and viewers of her very homoerotic Oxygen show), and is willing to look like a complete mental case in her defense of the gays. Janice Dickinson, I adore you. Don't ever change.

"Jeffery & Cole Casserole" Cooks Up Quirky & Randomly Brilliant Comedy

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Known to many as the Very Good Looking (VGL) Gay Boys, internet stars Jeffery Self and Cole Escola are making the jump to television with their steaming new Logo series (and even given its title, Paula Deen is not involved). Premiering Friday, June 22, at 11:00pm ET/PT on Logo, Jeffery & Cole Casserole will suck you into the very, very unique and often times outright bizarre world of these young NYC-based comedians.

Er, yes, some of their skits are slightly puzzling. But trust, it's nearly impossible to not laugh at these two guys. They definitely go all out, the editing is jerky and brilliant, and there's no way you can deny that they're creative. Their skits are all over the place... Watch the sneak peek above and you'll understand...

Jeffandcole
The cute stars of "Jeffrey & Cole Casserole."

The show will also be available on Logoonline, and you can even start watching now. Expect pop culture to get skewered, lots of weird impersonations, and slightly unnerving “jazz” performances. Check out a sneak peak (above) of the first episode premiering this Friday, June 12, at 11:00pm ET/PT, as part of Logo’s NewNowNext Awards Weekend.

The NewNowNext Awards are Coming! With Celebs and Horny Monsters!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

The NewNowNext Awards air this Saturday (June 13th, 9pm) on Logo. It's hosted by RuPaul, you can spot appearances by Lady Gaga & Britney Spears, and you'll also get Vanessa Williams, a few Real Housewives, hot stage stud Cheyenne Jackson, Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen, up-and-coming music stars like Livvi Franc, The Fire and Reason, the Paradiso Girls (who perform and turn it out), hot artists like Eve, Sia and Morningwood, and, well... a whole bunch of delicious people. Paulina Porizkova even is forced to lip-sync for her life!

And the mad red-carpet reporter Mike Diamond can also be glimpsed during the big pre-show (which airs at 8pm); he's certifiable! And amazing. Watch him interview the stars of Avenue Q above, where quizzes them on topics such as f*sting, drug abuse and his love of furry folks.

Below, you can see a spicy little trailer for the show. Watch the whole thing this Saturday night (June 13th) starting at 8pm at NewNowNextAwards.com!

Simon Doonan Gets Parental! "Beautiful Moments" Vlog, Episode 4 - Surviving Family

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

As last night's episode of Beautiful People showed, family is a wondrous and f*cked-up thing. Oscar-winner Brenda Fricker as Simon Doonan's raging granny? Genius! (And hella scary.)

So in this week's Beautiful Moments installment -- with Father's Day looming, too -- the real Simon Doonan serves up his own advice about how to deal with your parents, how to survive if they're not too terribly gay-friendly (start packing, if you can) and reveals some family secrets about his own Mum and Dad.

And yes, there's a discussion of cameltoe, jumpsuits, and the ultimate importance of not giving a flying-frak about your parents' approval.

Ahhh, wisdom.

And just click through to watch last night's episode of Beautiful People, Darling!!!

RuPaul Reveals Her Secret to Looking Good on Camera at the NewNowNext Awards

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Once again, a new clip has surfaced from this weekend's upcoming NewNowNext Awards, and this time, RuPaul pokes fun at the often-times obnoxious overuse of soft focus on Drag Race. I'm glad she's poking fun at this, because seriously, sometimes I couldn't tell if I was watching RuPaul or Tyra Banks the shot was so fuzzy. Meh, at this point, Tyra practically is a drag queen, so who knows if it was her?

Be sure to check out the the cameo from Season One finalist Rebecca Glasscock in the video as well. The 2009 NewNowNext Awards airs on-air and here online this Saturday, June 13th at 9pm EST.

Paulina Porizkova & Selene Luna Lip-Sync for their Lives at the NewNowNext Awards

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

How could an awards show that gave Lady Gaga her start in 2008 and is hosted this year by RuPaul be anything less than ridiculous and campy as hell? Well, this year's NewNowNext Awards look to be as outrageous as ever, as seen in the above video. Recently fired Top Model judge and former supermodel Paulina Porizkova battles it out it out with comedian Selene Luna...over a bar stool? I'm not quite sure exactly what's going on in this video, but it's all kinds of bizarre and fun to watch.

I've always been a Paulina fan, and am saddened that she was booted from Top Model. Paulina pokes fun of her firing, so be sure to watch until the very end. It's definitely interesting watching the 7' tall glamazon lip-sync battle with the 3' 10" tall ball of sass that is Selene.

The 2009 NewNowNext Awards airs on-air and here online this Saturday, June 13th at 9pm EST.

The Tony Awards: Neil Patrick Harris Rules, Bret Michaels Gets Clocked, Liza & Billy Elliot Win

LIZA
Liza and cast members from Hair, Shrek & everything else serve up a love-in at the Tonys!

The Tony Awards last night were a fun mess. The show moved pretty tightly with Neil Patrick Harris as its fantastic, yeomanlike host, moving it all along clad in a leathery-looking tuxedo. The big opening number medley gave us Liza, the cast of Hair attacking the audience, Dolly Parton, Elton John, Stockard Channing looking drag-queeny and a sluggish Bret Michaels getting throttled by moving scenery.

Billy Elliot won most of the big awards, including Best Musical and its three young Billys jointly took home the prize for Best Actor in Musical. Their gobsmacked acceptance speech (shades of Anna Paquin's Oscar win) was adorable! Liza rocked the stage as a performer, presenter and winner (for Liza's at the Palace) and her legendary ebullience never gets old.

Billy-Elliots-Winners
David Alvarez, Kiril Kulish and Trent Kowalik, aka "Billy Elliot." Yay!

AfterElton's got a great write-up and list of winners. One complaint: Whoever was directing the camera coverage of the show was drunk! I'm sure it's hard to capture all the dancing and singing when a huge group number is happening on stage, but the big musical moments during the show were a slipshod mess, camera-wise. Somebody needs to talk to someone from, say, the MTV Video Music Awards to find out how to cover these kinds of things.

Best moment of the night? Apart from moving acceptance speeches (Karen Olivo from West Side Story, Jerry Herman snagging a Lifetime Achievement Award, the three Billy Elliots and a wacky, nearly ranting Alice Ripley) and some fun peformances by the casts of Hair and West Side Story, it was Neil Patrick Harris' fun closing number, sung as the show wrapped. Watch it now, but hurry because I'm sure it will be yanked down soon.

Neil-Patrick-Harris_No
NPH is adorable even when he's being stern. Awwwwwww...

The Fashion Show Tries to Keep it 'Real'

Real-women
Won't the real slim lady please stand up?

Episode 5: Shape Shifters

- by Eric Walter

We learned a few things this week on Bravo's The Fashion Show.

  1. Just because you're gay, doesn't mean you're any good at fashion design.
  2. Pay attention to details. No, the other details.
  3. Everyone loves skinny people.

Also, we didn't need this show to tell us any of the above.

Runway-all
I love when the these shows use real women as models. They have opinions. They don't have to nail a killer runway walk. And they eat carbs!

The challenge this time was to design a flattering look for a woman whose proportions fall outside those of the typical runway model.

When the designers are shown their models, most of them seem freak out, predictably. Johnny is merely scared. "I don't really work with real people," he says. Reco takes it in stride, having made clothes for his size-16 aunt and size-12 sister. Angel gamely finds inspiration in finding solutions to "problems." (And by problems, we assume, she means reality, because, kids... these women are not all that big.)

Keith lucks out with a familiarly thin woman.

Workroom-keith-model
Keith tells his model she's perfect. She looks flattered, but I have a feeling their ideas of perfect are a bit different.

But a flawless canvas wasn't enough to help our Keith paint his masterpiece. He impressed no one by making a lumpy dress for his client. Another gay bites the dust.

I don't understand why it's so hard to conceive of making clothes for someone wider than a newel post. As designers, aren't they ultimately trying to influence what peasants like us wear? If not, what's the point?

Workroom-daniella
"I've never felt so uninspired!" she cried, burying her face in her hat and sobbing while her competitors snip and sew merrily around her. Why should they care if Daniella melts down? She won the mini-challenge, so she gets to knock one of them into the bottom three. (Look out, Merlin!)

Daniella takes it particularly hard. As it turns out, a lot of her fussing was for no reason.

Beautiful Moments w/Simon Doonan, Episode 3: How to Become a Star!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Watch out, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry! Simon Doonan may just try and steal your careers!

In this week's Beautiful Moments with Simon Doonan, the man who's the inspiration for the new Logo series Beautiful People, discusses his showbiz dreams.

Gay Shocker: He's never dreamed of being on Broadway (unlike his teen alterego on TV) - but he does wants to be a pop star! And he gives props to his idols like David Bowie and Marc Bolan, as well as today's glamazons, like Adam Lambert.

Enjoy!

The Fashion ... Shoe?

Shoes
These shoes rule.

Finally, an episode of Bravo's The Fashion Show that does not involve teams! Reco isn't the only one getting sick of this team business week after week.

With the designers unencumbered by each other, and left to their own devices, we got the best runway show yet this season. They really shone through as individuals, and even poopy-pants Isaac had kudos for them.

-by Eric Walter

Episode 4: The Shoe Must Go On

The challenge this week was all about working from the ground up: Design a dress inspired by a pair of shoes.

Maybe the best part (for the designers) was the field trip to Fifth Ave landmark Bergdorf-Goodman so everyone could pick their own favorite among the impressive inventory of Jimmy Choos, Manolo Blahniks and Alexander McQueens.

Bergdorf-shoes
The designers are transported to Shoe Paradise! One pair... How do you even begin to choose?

Bergdorf-leaving
Anna and Haven have a little spring in their step after their little Bergdorf's shoe-stravaganza. *Sigh...* I know just how they feel.

Even without teams, the judges narrowed down the field down to the worst two designs. By creating their little drama about whose look they’re “not buying” and who is left “hanging by a thread,” the judges force themselves to make a 50/50 decision. Let's call it their “which is worse” moment.

Last night's “which is worse” moment was a decision between the designer who made a bold but disastrous choice and the designer who made a safe but boring choice. The judges made a bold choice themselves.

"Beautiful Moments" Vlog with Simon Doonan - Episode 2: How to Have a Beautiful Career

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Last night saw the premiere of the new show Beautiful People on Logo. In the series, you can watch a 1990s teen version of style maven Simon Doonan cope with adolesence and his leanings for the glam life while living in British suburbia. It's cheeky, funny, sweet and rather gay. And terribly fun!

Now, in our second visit with Simon in the Barneys Design Studio (where he whips up all of the creative brilliance for the store's window displays), we talk a bit out "How to Have a Beautiful Career!" And Simon's advice may surprise you!

Who knew the secret to a fabulous life could be found in retail?

Enjoy!

"How the Mormon Stole Everything!" Twisted Video Alert!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Not sure if Dr. Seuss would approve, but who cares??? Check out the twisted video, "How the Mormon Stole Everything," a loopy response to all the Mormons vs. Gays/Prop 8 business... I do believe I recognize the voice of the genius Jonny McGovern on this one, which is apparently also a sneak peek to the upcoming season of The Big Gay Sketch Show on Logo (which they just finished taping).

One question: Where do I get my paws on some of those "ass-a-madoodles" and "corkscrew-madiggers"???? Fagville, here I come!

Think this will ruffle any feathers? Prompt a resurgence of foam parties???

And does today's big Prop 8 ruling (ouch) make this even more relevant? Ayyyy!

Today he explains "How to Have a Beautiful Summer!" and it's not about being demure. When it comes to beachwear, for example, Italians do it better! Less is more! Show off what you've got!

The Fashion Show: Dream a Little Dream Coat

Markus
Markus pricks his finger on the needle of criticism.

--by Eric Walter

Episode 3: Trick Up Your Sleeve

This week on Bravo's The Fashion Show, our twelve fashion apostles were challenged to design a coat for every season with more than meets the eye. I was hoping to see something that transformed into an alien robot or a sports car, but I guess hidden pockets and detachable hoods will do in a pinch.

The host with the boast, Isaac Mizrahi, sums it up well between the two hapless hopefuls at the bottom of this week's challenge. Who is the better designer: the one with good ideas and poor execution, or the one with good execution but no confidence?

In one corner, Markus was disappointed in the craftsmanship of his high-concept jewelry wrap — but we have people for that ... right?

Markus-design
Where is my team of sewers, dammit?

Haven, on the other hand, was ready to throw herself off the show for sending a sub-par spring coat down the runway.

Haven-design
A southern girl needs her hairspray, sure, but ... a little too much junk in the trunk?

NewNowNext Awards: Who Won?

Ru_red_2_375x500
Heyyyyyy, did the best woman win???? She better had.

The big news from last night's NewNowNext Awards taping in NYC? No, it wasn't RuPaul's costume changes (which were HOT). It wasn't Lisa Lampinelli's filthy jokes (which hopefully will make the cut on-air). Okay, it could have been the riveting live perfs from bands like Morningwood, The Fire and Reason, Storm Lee and the Paradiso Girls featuring Eve (although they were all pretty legendary as you'll see...), but that's not what I'm talking about.

It was THE WINNERS!!!!

And since gays suck at keeping secrets, after the jump you can read the full list of who won what! Of course, you still have to tune in on Saturday, June 13th to watch it all unfurl, but for now... We'll share.

[Psssst! There's another hot pic of Ru after the jump, too!]

Ongina, Cheyenne, Housewives, Sia & More from the NewNowNext Awards

Ongina
Beloved Drag Racer Ongina rocks the runway and one bitchin' little hat!

Here are more pics (and some insider dish) from last night's big (looooong - why do TV tapings always take forevah!??) NewNowNext Awards in NYC!

Ongina, above, took home the prize for Most Addictive Reality Star, and looked damned good while doing so!

CheyenneJackson
Cheyenne Jackson looked ridiculously handsome as always. He co-presented the "Cause You're Hot" Award onstage, fittingly.

More hotness and many, many pics after the jump.

NewNowNext Awards: Eve, Vanessa Williams, Wendy Williams & More!

Vanessa_Wendy_Williams_375x500
The ridiculous hotness of the Williams sistahs, Vanessa & Wendy!

Tonight's NewNowNext Awards were a fun, celeb-packed, musically rawwwwking and gay-tastic hot mess in all the best ways. I think we saw some RuPaul wigged and begowned brilliance, some twistedly brilliant musical performances: Morningwood! The Fire and Reason! And brace yourself for dancing Stormtroopers (Thanks Storm Lee.) and the brilliance of this summer's hot new all-girl act, the Paradiso Girls featuring hip-hop goddess Eve!

All the attendees looked amazing (I have an all-new respect for Wendy Williams and the divine Paulina Porizkova; both big, beautiful and soooooo fun to talk to!) but don't even get me started on how beyond stunning Eve was. Gack! Gorgeousness galore!

Here's a quick pic. More to come!

Eve_Paradiso_Girls_420x300
The lady Eve, flanked by the globally gorgeous Paradiso Girls. Their single "Patron Tequila" is your new summer party anthem. TRUST.

More after the jump... and then still more coming!!!

The Fashion Show Does "Recession Chic"

Mini-challenge
Bob Barker could have hosted this week's mini challenge. Separating the high-end merchandise from their affordable alternatives was like something out of The Price is Right.

--by Eric Walter

Episode 2: All the Bang, Half the Bucks

KristinThis week on Bravo's red-headed Project Runway stepchild, The Fashion Show, we dispensed with some drama early on with the sudden, mysterious and largely unexplained departure of Kristin, the little pixie who ended up second from the bottom on last week's episode. Couldn't take the heat, I guess. (Or maybe she was scared away by Merlin's collection of hats.)

Too bad! I liked our Chicago gal. Lady, we'll miss your Kool-Aid-colored locks!

Bad news for the show! With one fewer episode, what must the advertisers think?

The Fashion Show: A More Pissed-Off Project Runway?

400x230_FashionShowCast
The Fashion Show's eager wannabe designers. And the freaky little red circus doorman on the far right? He's one crazy homo.

--by Eric Walter

While Season 6 of Project Runway is lost to the ages somewhere between Bravo and Lifetime (Hint: Wait for it on Netflix.), fans can make do with The Fashion Show, the latest cutthroat couture reality show and Bravo's response to getting their signature show snatched away from them.

Let's get it out of the way: It's impossible to not compare The Fashion Show with its ground-breaking predecessor.

Gone is the warmth and mentorship of Tim Gunn, the wacky accent of Heidi Klum, the snide remarks of Michael Kors. But we do still have the host throwing open the work room doors to call out expectantly "Designers...!"

And... It works.

Basically, The Fashion Show is a little toned down, a little more serious, a little more academic, dare we say a little angrier?

Krod Mandoon's Sean Maguire & Matt Lucas, Interviewed!!!

I already had a big crush on Sean Maguire, the star of Comedy Central's pretty fabulous new spoofy fantasy series, Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire. Now it just got bigger!

Watch the above interview (via AfterElton)! Sean's uber-charming and loves the gays! And, of course, his big gay co-star, Matt Lucas (of Little Britain brilliance) is madly fun as always, too.

OMK! (Which stands for "Oh My KROD!!!")

And if you want a preview of the Bi-Clops (that's a bisexual Cyclops) that Sean and Matt speak fondly of above, watch below!!!

Tyra, Clay Aiken, Suze Orman Get GLAAD in NYC

TyraClay_85681380
Smiling with their eyes. And Clay's teeth.

GLAAD served up a third of its annual Media Awards in NYC on Saturday night. Tyra Banks and Suze Orman were the night's big honorees, with Ty-Ty getting the Excellence in Media Awards for all the gay goodness she delivers on her talk show and on America's Next Top Model. Yep, you can debate how hard of a stretch it is for La Banks to put gay folks on TV when she's producing a show about fashion and the modeling industry and a daytime talk show, which has long been a showcase for LGBT issues, if often for the sensationalistic nature of how the topic is featured ("Gasp! My husband is GAY!" or "Men who want to be Women!!"). But still, Tyra's a big star and a gay icon, so... There ya go!

Clay Aiken appeared to introduce Tyra. Do with that what you will. It's good that Clay's out gaying it up openly. And evidently he guest stars on Top Model this week, so thus the Tyra link. And... That's about it, thanks.

Finance and money-advice guru Suze Orman is a goddess, however, so it was fun to see her get praise (she won GLAAD's Vito Russo Award) for being a longtime lesbian and outspoken media queen. Onsage, Orman was all enthusiasm and energy, calling on the big gay GLAAD audience to only spend money on corporations who support the LGBT community, calling out those who've supported her, like CNBC, GE, Random House, Avon, Oprah and such. Suze thanked her long-term partner, KT Travis, and the two were all over the event, hugging and talking and posing for photos with anyone who'd approach them. Total delights!!!

SuzeKTTravis_85681737
Suze Orman and her partner K.T. Travis. Yay!

Video: The RuPaul's Drag Race Finale Party!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

If you couldn't cram in to NYC's Therapy bar on Monday night for the big RuPaul's Drag Race finale party (and for all I know you were there, it was so damned packed) have a look at the lil' video above to get a sense of the vibe.

The crowd was rabid and the evening's hostesses, the estimable Eve Starr and the thrillingly hilarious Mimi Imfurst, were pretty damned fantastic. And they had the big winner Bebe Zahara Benet on hand, serving her with her big fat Absolut prize money check at show's end. (Actually, Absolut's Jeffrey Moran did the official hand-off.)

Gorgeous bad girl Rebecca Glasscock was in the house, too. Both Drag Racers performed for the crowd, and all around it was mayhem and bliss.

RuPaul & Ari Gold: Interviews & Music Videos!

Gay music and video from NewNowNext.com

Tonight's the big finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, so here's a little more RuPaul love for you. It's an interview that music artist and gay-land celebutante Ari Gold did with Ru recently. These two have been pals for years (Ari even pops up in Ru's freaky/trashy/fabulous film Starrbooty), so this is very much a gal-pal lovefest.

Ari and Ru take a mini-tour of the RuPaul-inspired drag art show at the World of Wonder gallery in Hollywood, then share tales of Diana Ross!

And both Ari and Ru have hot music videos out now. After the jump, watch Ari's Click List-topping single "Human." It's all very lush and twinkly and something of a tribute to queer art legend James Bidgood (shot by Aaron Cobbett).

Then go watch the crack-a-lackin' new video for Ru's "Jealous of My Boogie" which is sort of NSFW, with its mash-up of some straight porn star doing dirty stuff with twitchy Japanimation visuals. It's completely bizarre and sort of genius.

RuPaul's Drag Race Finale Is Monday! Cazwell Guest Judges! Plus: Bebe, Rebecca & Nina Live in NYC!

360x450_Cazwell_RuPaul
RuPaul and Cazwell: Big queens for a big finish!

AAAAAUUUGHHH! Monday night is the big finale of RuPaul's Drag Race. Who's gonna snatch the crown? Cameroon's own Bebe Zahara Benet? Puerto Rico & Denver's dainty devil, Senorita Nina Flowers? Or the Fort Lauderdale feline known as Rebecca Glasscock?

Who knows? I do know that NYC's own fantastic rapper/party-maven Cazwell is a guest judge on the big finale. FUN! What does Cazwell know about drag queens you might ask? Well, he's hosted nightlife events in the Big Apple for years, working closely with the likes of Amanda Lepore, the legendary Misstress Formika, Linda Simpson, Lady Bunny and more... So yes, Mr. Luke Cazwell knows his way around some tucked taquitos, OK?

Plus, if you've ever seen Cazwell host a live event you know he's funny as hell. So this oughtta be good.

Wanna sneak peek at Monday's big finale? Watch it here.

Looks like Rebecca better step it up, Muchachas!

And after the jump, find out where you can hang with the three Drag Race finalists in NYC this weekend!

RuPaul's Drag Race: Queens Who Didn't Quite Make It

Here's to all the gals who didn't make the final nine list of queens who were indeed on RuPaul's Drag Race this season. As you prepare to find out which of the final three snatches the big crown (Nina? Bebe? Rebecca? Will Ongina stage a surprise return for the finale?) have a look above and this sassy montage of girls you could have been watching.

I think Lucky Deepford says it best: "My life in a nutshell -- and it's a BIG-ASS nutshell -- is school, drag, Miami Public Transportation, pilates, cupcakes and FACE!"

What more do you need to know?

Next Monday's next-to-last Drag Race episode is a messy recap what you've seen so far -- with some hot bonus conent you've NEVER seen! Tune in, chicklets.

Fruit Basket Turnover! Last Night's RuPaul's Drag Race: Voguing, Executive Realness & Charo!

Last night's RuPaul's Drag Race saw a rainbow of fruit flavors explode all over the place, a vogue battle, a visit from Charo (who's quip about "forking" killed me), a shocking runway rant from Shannel, and another surprise as to who went home.

Above -- SPOILER ALERT -- you can see the dishy behind the scenes footage of the girls backstage as they're waiting to be judged. Shannel talks and talks about how frustrated she is, and Bebe and Nina give her props for speaking her mind to Ru and the judges. Rebecca, classically indifferent, puts on her head phones and tunes this mess out.

My favorite thing in the above "Under the Hood" clip is Nina cracking up at how Santino read her on the runway for wearing the same pumps for all three of her looks. "Loca! He let me have it!" She's hysterical.

After the jump, find out more about the episode, including the loser's exit interview. And beware there's a bunch of SPOILED FRUIT involved.

Shannel: "I am beautiful, no matter what they say..."

The L Word Bows Out. Thus Croaked Jenny Schecter!

Jenny_Lfinale6
Hasta la vista, Baby!

The L Word wrapped up its sixth and final season last night. And we didn't even get to see Jenny make a fabulous death tumble into the pool!!! I wanted glorious shots of her floating pristinely dead, Sunset Boulevard-style! Did she jump and off herself? Did Bette toss her into the drink? Was it Niki Stevens in the bushes with some kind of actressy death grip?

And weren't you hoping that when the big Bette & Tina tribute video was played it was gonna be all re-edited into some nasty backstabbing mega-mix making everyone involved look bad? How dare Jenny take the high, nice road?

Yep it's frustrating, but these big series finishes rarely live up to one's expectations. They can't all be Six Feet Under, right? I'm just happy we got to see Carmen and Marina and my personal fave, Peggy Peabody!

There's gonna be an online spin-off series of "The Interrogation Tapes" wherein, bizarrely, all the principals sit in a room and get grilled by the most touchy-feely/indulgent cops ever. It's very Law & Order: Lesbian Victims Unit, guest-starring Xena!

So, thanks for the memories, Ms. Chaiken. You made a deliriously fun, iminently watchable, fabulously preposterous, forever maddening TV show. And most importantly, you made me realize that I will never tire of watching Jennifer Beals play the world's hottest, ever-fuming, super-amazingly kickass control freak to utter perfection. Gracias!

FIN_Lfinale1

Get more L-licious L Word post-analysis at AfterEllen.com (where else?). I'll be glued to my Tivo rewatching the spooky/glossy slow-motion end-credits sequence, with its mesmerizing smiling & walking montage set to that woozy orchestral Betty score. If you need me...
