"Geography Club," Movie About Secret Gay-Teen Support Group, Coming To Theaters: WATCH
Geography Club, Brent Hartinger's young-adult novel about a group of LGBT teens who form a secret support group under the pretense of a geography club, has made the leap to the big screen, with some pretty big names attached.
Directed by Gary Entin, Geography Club stars up-and-comers Cameron Deane Stewart (Pitch Perfect) and Justin Deely (Drop Dead Diva) as young lovers hiding their relationship from quarterback Deely's teammates. Also starring are Nikki Blonsky, Scott Bakula, Ana Gasteyer, Glee's Alex Newell and Two and a Half Men's Marin Hinkle.
Newell, who will be playing a transgender teen, said of the film: "When I first read the script, I was like, 'Wow, this is going to open a lot of eyes.' It really appealed to me because I wanted to open more eyes about it and show people this is what we go through."
Produced by Huffington Pictures, Geography Club will be available on-demand on November 15, the same time it gets a limited theatrical release in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, Santa Fe and Phoenix.
