Take A Peek Inside The New NSFW Zine Skin & Bone

Launching today, Skin & Bone is a new biannual publication from artists Philip Campbell and Brandon Shade.

The couple wanted to collaborate in the past but were frustrated by a lack of vision—a publication was the perfect solution.

“After creating personal work for the Web most of our careers, it was time to try something different to entertain ourselves—and hopefully appeal to an audience,” explains Shade.

Why something hardcover?

“For the viewer to be able to hold our images in their hands, feel the texture and develop an intimate connection with each image was important to us, especially in the age of infinite scrolling.”

One of the biggest spreads in the premiere issue is an editorial on Huntley Homme, a lifestyle brand that’s unabashedly homocentric. Campbell and Shade formed a personal friendship with Markian Charuckyi and James Mulvaney, the Australian design duo behind the brand.

“We were able to meet [Markian] over social media—he wanted to participate in the project and it all came together,” explained Campbell.

“That’s what is most interesting about this issue: The connections we were able to make with people who trusted our vision and were comfortable exploring this new outlet with us.”
