The eve New York voted on marriage equality, a group of friends got a crazy idea: gay marrying a group of people in Central Park. It was a crazy idea, but it took off.
Now known as Pop Up Chapel, it’s going to mean marriage for 24 lucky couples tomorrow! In honor of the ridiculously romantic nuptials, we’re listing the best reasons for a park wedding.
5. It’s (usually) cheaper!
Weddings are hella pricey. While mom and pop sometimes help with their daughter’s wedding, if you’re a gay dude chances are your parents didn’t plan on forking over cash towards your special day. Alas! Instead of renting out a massive cathedral, the Mother Nature route will likely cost a lot less. Perhaps Central Park is a little extravagant, but there are loads of other parks that’ll surely cut you a deal!
An outdoor setting also allows you to get more creative with decorations. Follow Pop Up Chapel’s idea and go with recycled cardboard. Cheap, yet elegant and gorgeous. You don’t have to do anything that complex… but you get the drift!
The couples getting the royal treatment tomorrow, of course, are in good hands. They’re getting a free ceremony, styling, flowers, and more. Lucky.

4. Nature is sexy, and it’s pretty green too!
Rustic stuff is hot. Take lumberjacks and hippies, for instance. Committing yourself to the girl or dude you love in such a sexy environment is the perfect combination of romantic, hot and back-to-basics. Plus, it’s a super-green option. No need for much decorations, air conditioning or awkward stained glass. Mother nature’s gotchya covered.

3. There’s no funny church smell.
Petty? Maybe. But churches (at least EVERY one I’ve EVER been in) smell like a combination of my grandma’s house and holy water. They can be beautiful, of course, and I’m sure there are ones that smell beautiful.
But, when you’re outdoors you can enjoy the sweet smells of trees, flowers and love. Not old carpeting and pews.

2. Kids won’t go crazy
Growing up I absolutely dreaded going to weddings. The receptions always rocked, but my mom had loads of trouble keeping me quiet and polite during the ages of waiting for the bride, the photos, the nuptials… ahh! If you’re having any number of kids, an outdoor setting will keep them much more engaged, and they have somewhere to run around until the ceremony starts. Perfect!

1. Everyone loves a wedding – let them watch!
If the outpouring of press for the Pop Up Chapel is any testament, people LOVE weddings. I can’t count the number of times I’ve stared at a cute couple getting their photos taken outdoors. If you’d like an audience (and who doesn’t!) for your big day, nothing says “HEY LOOK AT US IN LOVE” like an open-access place. Now, go make us proud!
