Nicole Kidman better move over. There’s a new Lucy Ricardo in town — and she’s played by Jonathan Van Ness.
The Queer Eye Fab Five member has branched off in their own Netflix series, Getting Curious With Jonathan Van Ness, based on Van Ness’s popular podcast. The six-episode show dropped today (January 28) on Netflix and features the hair guru learning about everything from skyscrapers to ice skating to sugar.
It’s in the episode all about sugar and its effects on the body that Van Ness’s Queer Eye comrade Antoni Porowski makes a cameo, with the duo living out their I Love Lucy fantasy. Together, they recreate the iconic chocolate factory scene from the original sitcom.
The fun scene is the definition of a sugar high. Maybe if a future episode tackles winemaking, Van Ness could recreate another famous Lucy scene and go grape stomping.
In addition to sugar and skyscrapers, Getting Curious says “Bye-Bye to the Binary” in a special episode about the gender spectrum featuring LGBTQ+ activist, writer, and performer Alok, who takes the Queer Eye star to the legendary Stonewall Inn. Van Ness, who came out as nonbinary in 2019, also gets a fashion history lesson from superstar designer Christian Siriano.
Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness is streaming now on Netflix.
