X-Files alum Gillian Anderson is single, ready to mingle, and totally open to new possibilities.

In a new interview with the Telegraph published yesterday, the 46-year-old actress revealed she's searching for "the one" and isn't restricting herself to just one gender.

"I wouldn't discount it," she said of the possibility of dating women again. "I did it before and I'm not closed to that idea. To me a relationship is about loving another human being; their gender is irrelevant."

The Fall star has been married to men twice before and spent a better half of the last decade in a relationship with another man. She's had three children as the result of those relationships, but that doesn't mean she limits her future prospects.

She continued:

I'm so lucky to have such great work. I’ve got a fantastic life, I have a wonderful relationship with my kids, and there’s nothing lacking, but I’m leaning towards the idea that it’s time for somebody to be brave enough to ask me out.

To me, a married man is simply a No Go. I’m not interested in younger men either. I suppose I might ask a man out, but I believe at this stage of my life, it’s better not to manipulate the situation. If it happens, it happens. What I am sure about is that I want my next relationship to be The One."

Anderson hasn't ever been shy about her past relationships with women. In 2012, she revealed as much to Out magazine and said it's the only time she ever felt compelled to clap back at her haters on Twitter.

"I was so close – and I mean minutes away – from tweeting back, but somebody had the presence of mind to stop me,” she said.
