"Girls" Star Allison Williams To Play Peter Pan In NBC Live Musical

NBC — still riding high on the defied low expectations of its live Sound of Music starring Audra McDonald and some other people — is staging another musical: Peter Pan, with Girls star Allison Williams as the titular tight-wearing allegorical man-child.

"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true,” Williams said in a statement. “It’s such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I’m very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?”

That's real ballsy, Marnie. Carrie Underwood's a professional singer, I'm told, and she got dragged under the bus for not being Julie Andrews. And that was by people who managed to see Carrie in the shadow of Audra McDonald. So good luck with that, home Girl.

Meanwhile, Christopher Walken will play Captain Hook and I have no doubt that this will be as awesome and terrifying as it sounds. If NBC really wants a hit, they'll cast Audra and Laura Benanti as the Lost Boys and Lena Dunham as Tinker Bell. She's got the moves for it:
