Actor Believes God Punished Him for Wearing a Dress in a Movie

Brandon T. Jackson says God has forgiven him for playing a gay role.

Don't expect to see Brandon T. Jackson as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race anytime soon.

The 35-year-old actor, who is a devout Black Hebrew Israelite, tells TMZ that by wearing a dress opposite Martin Lawrence in the 2011 comedy Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son, he broke a religious law that prohibits men from doing drag.

“And when you break a law, you get punished," Jackson explains. "So nothing went right, not just in my career, my personal life... If you don’t follow all the commandments that the father says to do, you’ll be cursed."

TMZ also asks Jackson if he now regrets playing a closeted gay actor, Alpa Chino, in the 2008 movie Tropic Thunder.

"I think I was on thin ice then with the father,” Jackson replies. “But he had his mercy... and his grace was there. But I don't regret anything in my journey."

Jackson's other films include Roll Bounce, Tooth Fairy, and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
