This Toddler Had A “Golden Girls”-Themed Birthday Party And We’re Totally Jealous

"We should cherish the uniqueness in our kids."

It’s been 25 years since we said goodbye to The Golden Girls, but the old broads are still making new friends.

Arizona mom Jessica Lewis recently threw a Golden Girls-themed second birthday party for her daughter Elisa, HuffPost reports. The tyke may not get the jokes, but she’s old enough to know it’s one of the greatest TV shows ever.

“I would watch them every time I nursed her so I think the sounds of their voices and that iconic theme song comforted her,” Lewis says. “In fact, the only way I could often calm her down would be singing the theme song for her or playing an episode from our DVR.” Same.

Elisa’s party had everything—cheesecake desserts, ’80s artwork, and tees with Golden Girls quotes. Like Blanche’s bedroom, the party’s colors were mint green and pale pink.

“I had pictures of each Golden Girl with the food that would describe them,” Lewis continues. “For instance, we had ‘Better than Mama Celeste’s Pizza’ for Sophia. I even found a website featuring food Rose Nylund would make from St. Olaf. We had Sparhearven Crispies. They were delicious.”

Lewis hopes she’ll inspire other parents to embrace their child’s passions. “If your child loves something, no matter how random it is, it should be celebrated. We should cherish the uniqueness in our kids and I hope that people see that is what I tried to do.”

So is Elisa more of a Rose, Dorothy, Blanche, or Sophia? “Elisa is loving, feisty, knows what she wants, whimsical, and funny!” Lewis says. “She is quite like Sophia Petrillo herself. I always say she is like a little old lady. She loves to have fun and wants the world to know she is here.”
