The Gossip Girl spin-off, which follows a young Lily (Serena's mom) through her teen years in L.A., has been in the works for a while now. We knew it was going to take place in the '80s, but who knew it would look so … cliche?
The fact that it's called Valley Girl certainly doesn't help, either. (Originally, it was known as Lily). The show, which stars Brittany Snow, is set to premier on the CW May 11. Kelly Rutherford, who plays adult Lily on Gossip Girl, will kick off the pilot of Valley Girls by considering Rufus' marriage proposal. Cue flashbacks to their early romance, which is intended to be enough to carry a whole series. Doable? We'll see.
